This time of year every flight will have multiple people carrying on long cakes.

Sounds good. But what brand are they? Do they gouge you at the airport for off-brand king cake?

I've seen quite a few stuffed in big purses come out mid flight for "snacking."

Yes, brought a few to a jobsite out of state for the field guys to share. Didn't have any problem with TSA, but everyone I walked past asked me for a piece. It was funny at first, but gets annoying after a while.

I did it all the time when I lived in Florida. I would go to the post office and get the large flat rate box, a medium king cake fits in it perfectly. I would stack a couple of boxes on top of each other and wrap them in duck tape. I would carry them on with no issues.
