The Jan. 12 game between the Pelicans and Nuggets, which was broadcast over the air on Fox 8, got a 7.4 rating in New Orleans. Averaged 50,000 households. Peaked at 66,000. Next game on Fox 8 is Friday against Phoenix.
Two years ago, the Pelicans averaged a 1.26 rating on Bally Sports. LINK

For perspective, the biggest rating the Pelicans drew on Fox Sports Net (Bally’s Sports) from 2018-2020 was a 2.5.
A massive audience jump for the Pels moving to network TV — even for one game.

So does that mean the Bally’s one two years ago was averaging about 8,000 people?

7.4 is massive for a regular season game on local tv. Those Bally's ratings had the Pels in the middle of the NBA pack ratings wise over the last few seasons, so that rating should turn heads both on Airline Drive and in New York.

To put the 7.4 rating into context: the Pelicans hardly ever exceed a 2.0 rating on Bally Sports.
Also, Pelicans-Nuggets got a slightly higher rating than the NBA Finals in New Orleans, which ranked 13th in ratings among all U.S. markets.
Wow, better rating than the Finals!!!

Great. Now stream it on Fox Sports app like Saints games and we’ll see a real number!

Imagine that, NBA. Broadcasting on network television is good for business.

It really is sad how dogshit Bally’s is. And supposedly people much smarter than us are calling those shots

They were promoting the frick out of that game though
The test will be a bit later in the season when it’s no longer a novelty
