Then, they'll wait until after June 1st to cut him, that'll split the prorated cap hit over 2 years.

That pushes about $22M in dead cap onto 2025

He’s done. His knee is bone on bone and has been for over a year now. His body just failed him. I hate it because when he was healthy he was the best RT in the league. I’ll be shocked if he ever plays again. I actually thought Cam Erving played well in Ram and Landon Young’s absence. We need to go cheap at some positions to get the cap situation better. I hope we hire a new OL coach and either Young or Erving can start. I’d try Penning over on the right side. He looks more like a RT to me anyway. We will draft our new LT in one of the 1st 2 picks this year i think. As much as I hate Peat also, he’s so much better at LT than inside at LG. If he wanted to come back on a cheap deal I wouldn’t be opposed to it.

Yeah if Ram retires, it might be the best thing for us. It may force Loomis to bite the bullet and pay some of the cap off.

My guess is that he finds something, whether it’s surgery or more injections, in order to play one more year.

Yes, but he would not be on the roster which would make it a net positive. Probably would have to address OT in the draft instead of free agency since $22M in dead cap plus starter OT free agency money would be an insane allocation of money to one position. If Penning could move to RT that would be helpful but I doubt it.

He doesn’t look like a starting tackle honestly. Personally, I think Landon Young looked much better than him and will be in a starting role next year.
