It is not. Otherwise you'd see Starbucks doing it more

Wages were low, it wasnt necessary.

As wages for unskilled labor rise, automation will take over.

Thats how economics work. There are always tradeoffs.

Asexual, which is kind of like a lot of Starbucks employees except by design instead of by either choice or being repellant.

It’s cool to hate unions and the c-suite at the same time.

Trade unions have a place. Those guys are hired straight out of the union hall.

Service industry employees and public employees want easy work with high pay, and dont want to put in time and effort to advance on their own merit, so they form a mob and beg for more money.

Those people stop growing.

Automation in its current form cannot handle running an entire Starbucks drink production line and make a profit for the business. It would take several robots doing different jobs, maintenance for robots, downtime for repairs, and that's not even getting into the already shite espresso makers that go down and need troubleshooting.

The financial investment needed to make it work per store I would imagine would be far more significant than keeping employees and again, you'll have even worse service once said robots take over producing your Frappuccino.

Why do you hate them? Do you hate people who join unions?

Unions don't protect good workers. Unions protect bad workers and make it impossible to cut dead weight.

In its near future form, it will need far fewer humans to do the work.

Theyre already working on replacing some workers with machines and AI.

According to a report by CNBC, Starbucks is planning to increase automation in its cafes to speed up service and reduce the time it takes to make drinks and food

Unionization for low skilled workers simply means they will be replaced.

Where I live, and have lived, the employees are courteous and the product is excellent. Not my favorite coffee, but the women in my life enjoy it.

It's a nice stop when you're traveling as the restrooms are always clean.

Some feel the product isn't good, but clearly more people enjoy it; there's always a line.

IDC if they unionize or not.

I hope so. Smaller Starbucks will absolutely not get the same investment. We're talking several years before you see any type of change to satellite market starbucks

They started a three year automation/expansion plan in 2023, so many will lose jobs within the next couple of years.

S. Sherwood is rapidly approaching "the sketchy parts of town," particularly S. Sherwood and Coursey.

Starbucks has been responding to this by hiring less workers. They keep the union workers and force them all to work at least 40 hours on skeleton crews.

seems like a pretty decent deal tbh

ETA - I’ve always thought the path for fast food was fewer, higher paid, harder working employees

Not really on that side of Sherwood to Lake Sherwood N.

Sigma Engineering is housed in the 4000 Sherwood glass building, and has another big office on Lake Sherwood N. Amedysis, Progressive and Hargrave have large offices behind 4000 Sherwood Bldg and there are a number of professional offices back there.

Shouldn't have sympathy for Starbucks either.
