Can't figure out how he got there in the first place outside of nepotism/having a billionaire father. His resume is a complete joke. Only OC experience is riding Derrick Henry's coattails for two seasons (with a very average record at that) and is offered a HC job? Total daddy's girl.

Select RB #8 overall - Check
Select TE #4 overall - Check
Select WR #8 overall - Check

Give the ball to Jonnu Smith and Van Jefferson instead - Check

He was very highly thought of the year he was hired. One of the hottest coordinators in the NFL.

While Arthur Smith sucks arse, the other end of the spectrum is Dennis Allen. The NFL needs more outsiders, not less.

Nah. He cries if teams score touchdowns in a manner he doesn’t like. He should coach Jr high football and give everyone a trophy.

Some guys aren’t HC material. He’s a good OC if you want your team to run heavy 12 personnel etc. and he should just stay in that lane.

If Hue Jackson got multiple jobs, Smith MIGHT get another if he does a good job as a coordinator somewhere.

But the chances are pretty damn low.

It seems that once you are an NFL head coach, you're a made man in the "fraternity" and can always get another job no matter how shitty the first go-round was. Examples are Dennis Allen and Josh McDaniels.

Dude went out of his way to not use his first round offensive talent and failed miserably. They averaged less than 19 points per game. Whether it was ego, stupidity, or both, if I’m management of an NFL franchise I would rather look elsewhere

The OP’s analysis is possibly the dumbest thing I’ve seen here in a while- You’re a moron if you think the NFL, a multi-billion dollar industry, gives a shite who your dad is. The guy took Derrick Henry’s production to another level and did it while being saddled with Tannehill. All the players he coached (Titans and Falcons)loved him and respected how hard he worked along with his knowledge of the game. Just because some billionaire (Arthur Blank) who knows nothing about football fires you bc he isn’t happy bc his toy NFL team isn’t winning as much as he wants them to, doesn’t make you a bad coach. At the end of the day, a QB makes or breaks most NFL coaches (see Belichick)
