Tony Gibson, Mike Elston, Corey Raymond, Chevis Jackson would be a very good staff.

Seems like a really really good coach but I do not know how I feel about going back to a 3-3-5

That would be rather unimpressive.

If we don't get more interior DL, we may not have much of a choice. We still need at least 2 more portal guys who can play DT.

What makes him seem like a really really good coach? I haven’t watched nc state but assumed you have? I would assume he would have gotten better offers before now?

It's a good base defense for modern offenses if you have the DBs to run it.

In December of 2019, following the conclusion of the season, Huxtable was fired, and Gibson was promoted to Defensive Coordinator and Linebacker’s Coach. In 2019, NC State ranked 74th in Total Defense (400.3 yards per game), 103rd in Pass Defense (255.5), 51st in Run Defense (144.8) and 82nd in Scoring Defense (30.1).

quote:

After a bumpy start in Year 1, Gibson’s defense has ranked in the Top-25 in Total Defense and Run Defense in three consecutive seasons. They’ve ranked in the Top-25 in Scoring Defense in 2 of the last 3 seasons.

quote:

Every year, when Head Coaching jobs open up, Gibson’s name gets thrown around, and deservedly so. Gibson is essential to the success and consistency that is being built at NC State. He completely fits the type of culture that Dave Doeren is trying to build. The Wolfpack can’t afford to lose Tony Gibson. Sure, he was given a raise last year. I say do it again. Pay the man.

Nc state crew seems to like him

I hope not. Don’t see a 3-3-5 defense doing well in the SEC. Maybe it lets us use some speed more and run tons of blitzes but seems like stopping the run could be tough. I am no expert on this though. Would like to hear what others think?

A good coach is a good coach. Obviously his system works.

I don't think so, and I think he has the desire to prove a lot of people wrong. We know he has the know how, and if he is hired, I hope he has a renewed desire to prove himself again.

I agree. I was hoping for Minter, but Gibson is what I’ve heard. Hope my unreliable sauce is incorrect.
