28* no wind, good frost
.270 Winchester
Box blind with a brief assist from the heater. Rifle in hand, wore out that poor 20 year old yesterday. :soft:

Unlikely to shoot unless Muy Grande rolls through. Save the does for him.

In my saddle. Had some ole boys beat me back to the spot I was planning to hunt so I had to turn back and find a spot to set up a safe distance from them. That’s public land for ya. Not mad at it though, they got there first, I should’ve gotten my arse out of bed earlier. I can’t stand when people get mad over that.

31 degrees with a light NW breeze
308 Tikka
Box stand along an old logging road in the bottoms

It feels like the red beans and rice from last night are fixing to kick in. Hoping to hold it off for at least another hour. Will keep y’all updated.

ETA- lost the battle against a belly fully of red beans. I’m sure the smell will run off everything in a 300 yard radius.

Just had a fox or yote come through in the treeline alerting the 76 squirrels feeding. At first thought it was a flagging small deer but the bushy tail was up. There is a chicken coop nearby so thinking fox.

Eta: video evidence and lsumans opinion reveal it was a yote. weird because they usually dont come in this close during daylight with the noise and neighborhoods around

How have things been looking for you? My bucks have pretty much been underground for the last week. Haven’t seen target buck on camera in over a week.

I’m holding out optimism that it’s just the rut and they’re off my 60 acres/will come back.

Same. Its dead here. None of the mature bucks are around on camera. Not even at night. Been 9 days since the big 8 showed. Only showing a few resident does with yearlings. The scrapes must've been pre rut because they went dry. From what ive seen the last 4 years we are just about to pop off. Now until jan 10 is where i get daytime mature buck pics

Just went to get down and spotted a deer 75 yds away. Now im here for a bit longer…

Saw 12 this morning. A forkhorn with 2 little stickers (I’d call him 6) that I could have killed with a spear. Gf’s son picked a terrible morning to sleep in. I’ve gone entire seasons and not seen 12 deer.

Definitely on the chase this morning. I wasn’t really planning on shooting, so I was lazy and parked the SxS right next to the box. The deer that came out DGAF.

About to head out for a long sit and hope he gets a chance. Wind has picked up, so that might slow their roll.

Back on the same stand as this morning loc on an powerline
300 wm
I’m to the point where I feel like the deer have won, and now I can just go back to enjoying hunting and not trying to kill. Told my son yesterday when he asked me if I was mad cus I hadn’t got a big deer yet this year I said “ I’m not in jail, not in the hospital and not at work but still getting paid”
Good luck ol boys

55 and windy

Bro in law killed a big sow out of my best stand yesterday morning. Too much work beckoned this morning, so a quick afternoon trip down to the marsh this evening.
He has seen 2 so far, meanwhile I'm double dog daring one to make a pass down this pipeline levee.

Today is one of the first times I've hunted all year. Just wanting some freezer meat.

That full moon last night had the deer bedded down this morning, so hoping to stick a doe this evening.
