Could be a
-Album or single release
-Concert
-Got a new instrument
-Learning a new instrument
-Discovered a new band
Etc…

Mine was going to The Cure concert in New Orleans on May 10, 2023.
Was a Great Show. They sounded amazing. Robert Smith’s voice was as good as if I was watching them for the first time in ‘87. Perfection!!!
Watch the videos to see!!
Pictures of You
Fascination Street

No one should ever think a band is too old to tour.
Best Band Ever!!

Got my first Gibson Les Paul this year. It was well, well worth the money.

1. I got to perform 3 of my 4 favorite live performances since I’ve been a musician.

2. Seeing Pierce the Veil live was a real treat, which is saying something as they separated themselves in a year where I also saw a ton of great bands including Joyce Manor, PUP, Tower of Power, Alter Bridge, Glen Hughes, Yngwei, Sleeping with Sirens, Bullet for my Valentine, Tenacious D, The Used, and so many more.

3. I found out that my EHX Glove has a little switch inside it that completely changed the sound, making me fall in love with my tone again, including with a guitar I previously was disappointed with.

4. I taught myself how to edit videos and released my first music video, which I edited myself, salvaging footage others told me was useless.

5. One of my oldest friends got a record deal.

Next year should be HUGE for music with me releasing multiple songs and music videos, playing a showcase at SXSW, and potentially getting myself to the point that I can turn music from a money-sink hobby to an actual career.

Two things really, and I cant decide which is best.
First, I put a splittable mini humbucker in my Les Paul jr. Kit guitar with a push/pull tone knob to do the split.
It was a cool comfortable little guitar already, with the short scale and small size. The Mini HB just gave it an added dimension.

Second, I splurged on a set of Fretshack's Carondelet P90 Telecaster pickups for my yellow Telecaster.
The look on people's face when they hear that thing is priceless.

Oh yeah, there's a third thing, I finally opened an account on Reverb and I've been moving some guitars.

I saw a lot of bands for the first time this year, including Ween, Lorna Shore, Death to All, Yob, and Alice Cooper.

Billy strings in Buena Vista

Wasn't there, but the three shows this weekend will make 8 Billy Shows in 2023.

After that, finally got off my arse and started to learn guitar.

and Metallica, and Green Day, and Blink 182, and Paramore, and Fall Out Boy, and Sum 41, and Pierce the Veil, etc. So many “legacy” acts released new albums this year that were better than anything they had released in 10-20 years.

Probably finally listening to Sun Kil Moon’s Ghost on the Great Highway. I think that was the best album that I heard for the first time this year even though it was 20 years old.

people being excited for new music from 80 year olds and dead people is a pretty sad state of affairs

Thats interesting... I didnt realize you just heard it this year.. I saw you post songs.. I remember when it came out.. I really liked it a lot and went to see him at the Mermaid Lounge... I think I almost fell asleep during that show, it was fricking awful...

I need to pull that out again and give it a listen... Ive heard his recent output is garbage though...

I have not listened to anything past Benji, which was great, but definitely not for everyone.
