South Arkansas and North Louisiana folks are actually more claimed by East Texas. It’s a very interesting discussion…
I've been to New Orleans less than ten times in my life. I go to Dallas several times in a typical year.

Are you fricking with us?

You mean new orleans and Baton Rouge are liberal... also void of coonasses.
Please don’t confuse South Louisiana with Orleans Parish. The demographics make OP a liberal cess pool. The surrounding parishes are white, conservative and vote Republican every time. Let me add, there no coon asses and no one speaks French until you get to Terrebonne and Lafourche parishes. Jefferson, St Tammany, Tangipihoa, etc are white flight and native good old boys.

North Louisiana would be unbelievably poor without daddy Orleans and EBR paying all the bills
The entire state of Louisiana is poor and on welfare, it doesn’t just pertain to the northern part. And New Orleans has the highest rate of poverty out of any city in LA

So you’re 5’8 and 190 ok

No it’s not, not even in the slightest. The Miami-Fort Lauderdale area has almost 8 million people and has always had more influence from East Coast voters. The blue voters there are wealthy Jewish retirees or work-from-home transplants from the Northeast who actually contribute to society.
The blue voters in South Louisiana are white trash bayou trailer-dwellers or single-mother black families who want welfare benefits. Both groups vote blue to live off government assistance. Not even close to being comparable to South Florida.

South Louisianians love to act like North Louisiana sucks until it's time to go hunting.

south louisiana fishing >>> north louisiana hunting and it ain't close

I think one Louisiana is plenty for the rest of the country to deal with
Posted on 12/28/23 at 8:05 am to GreatLakesTiger24
Could y'all stay down there and fish then?
We get tired of you guys going into the woods armed like sawed-off little Rambos, shooting 11 squirrels, 3 coons, and blooding/losing 3 deer in one morning.
Plus yall drink up all the Crown.

That’s a silly argument. By that rationale, “Daddy Orleans” would be very hungry without rural Louisiana supplying all the livestock, seafood, and produce.

Yeah without the industrial sector from lake Charles to New Orleans the north would be toast

I’ve lived in Southeast Louisiana my whole life. I’ve never once thought about North Louisiana, hell I’ve never even thought about Louisiana west of the Mississippi. Everyone in my personal life is very conservative, and non of them would refer to themselves as Cajun. This thread has been interesting and entertaining to read though. I’m realizing I live in a bubble

Only certain parts of S LA are Cajun. Plenty of it is fairly indistinguishable from other areas of the state or the South in general. Take someone from North LA to Greensburg or Montpelier and show them how Cajun it is
I grew up in Central and Pride in the 80s and 90s. We ate some Cajun food, but it was far more redneck at that time than anything else.

This isn’t true at all. The oil and gas mineral revenue produced in North Louisiana helps float the State’s budget. North Louisiana sees a comparatively low return on its tax dollars sent to Baton Rouge.
Not sure about the return, but the overwhelming majority of state’s GDP is derived from south Louisiana.

Louisiana on the other hand you have coon asses that don't speak English. Predominantly catholic and liberal. North Louisiana is more conservative. Baptist. Farmers, loggers and rednecks.
South Louisiana is liberal, only if you’ve never met a liberal.
Other states have a far more credible reason to split. If you live in Buffalo, NY your life is determined by NYC voters - and nothing will ever happen to change that.
As shown in multiple elections, Louisiana can out-vote New Orleans and Baton Rouge.
Similarly there hasn’t been an election in 150 years where Southern Illinois could out-vote Chicago.

Less do it. Need a border fence/DMZ around Larto to Effie and southwest to lake chuck so we can have coastal access.
