Starting to plan honeymoon for 2025. We want to do Dubai/Maldives and maybe Abu Dhabi. We are looking at early May 2025, anyone have experience tips on weather? I know Dubai will be hot but that won't bother us that much, much more concerned with "rainy" season starting in May in the Maldives. Any experience/advice appreciated!

Not sure what you’re asking exactly. Is there opportunity to change anything?

Only thing that comes to mind, the water clarity is different in raining season vs dry. Can’t remember which is which. If you are getting an overwater bungalow, the deciding factor could be snorkeling opportunities.

Sunrise side vs sunset side. One side could be a better view for sunsets but not as good for snorkeling. We choose the the sunrise side bc they had better snorkeling off the back deck. But if the snorkeling is going to be cloudy, that may be a non-factor.

Went to the Maldives at the beginning of June a few years ago for our honeymoon, absolutely breathtaking water even with it raining periodically throughout our stay. Stayed in an over water bungalow it was amazing. I would love to go back there if it wasn’t a 30+ hr trip.

We did the Maldives as part of our honeymoon in 2022. It was great but we don't feel like we ever need to go back.

Here is the writeup from our trip

Yeah nothing is booked I just wanted to see if anyone else had been there around that time. Some articles I've read say it rains a ton in the Maldives in May and some articles say it may rain an hour a day if that...

Maybe I'm just dumb but I didn't see when y'all went, what time of the year did y'all go?

I've never been to the Maldives but I can comment on Dubai. I don't see it being a honeymoon destination is my comment. The heat is real. I thought it was a dry heat but it's more like being in New Orleans in 115 degree heat with high humidity.

Been to all 3. 1 day in Abu Dhabi was enough except if you want an extra day for a desert excursion but that can be done from Dubai too.

I think we are leaning towards 5ish days in Dubai , 1 day/night in Abu Dhabi, and 5-6 in Maldives. Any must sees in Abu Dhabi? I would really like to go to the F1 track and maybe Ferrari World

Yeah I really like Abu Dhabi and have been there a lot but there really isn't anything in Abu Dhabi that you couldn't also do in Dubai

Would at least go for a day or two if you are there and have the time though

.

The Grand Mosque would be my #1 recommendation. Structure is beautiful tho the actual inside prayer area was underwhelming to see.

Dubai in early May is definitely going to be hot, but if that doesn’t bother you, then you’ll be fine. I found the city to be a great mix of modern attractions and cultural spots. Just make sure to stay hydrated and plan indoor activities during peak heat hours. As for Abu Dhabi, the Grand Mosque is stunning in person and worth visiting, but I agree that the actual prayer area inside is a bit underwhelming. Ferrari World is fun if you're into cars and roller coasters.

If you're renting a car in Dubai, don’t forget to top up your Salik balance in advance since you'll be using toll roads a lot. You can easily do it online through Salik recharge on https://paynet.red/salik, which saves time.

Bigger question: why the 2 year old bump?

Is OP still getting married?

I'm curious to hear how OP's trip went. We're headed to Dubai as part of our Asia trip next month.
