Do you think Willie deserves the whole season to try and keep his job?

I'm seeing a little too much hate i think. Yes his rotations are bad, but he is changing things, and to me that is a sign of a great coach unafraid of change. Taking herb out the starting lineup is a big deal but it's going to happen. He's playing Trey more and played him in crunch time last night.

I'm just wondering if you guys have already decided that coach that has had a winning record over last season and this season needs to go before the end of the year to try and salvage the season.

I think everyone likes Willie and want him to do well but he’s terrible in close games. Not sending a double team the other night at Ja was inexcusable. That being said I hope he can turn it around

I don’t think he’s going to get fired but I wouldn’t be opposed to it. Maybe some point down the road with more experience he will be a better head coach but he has a long way to go. If we were a rebuilding team like the Rockets I’d be more patient but we have a roster that can contend right now and we can’t afford to waste years letting Willie learn how to coach.

I’ll be honest, no

This roster is too good and we’re at too pivotal of a point to waste it.

If he doesn’t figure out how to get us better shots down the stretch and figure out better lineups he’s got to go

Given our current situation and standing, it would be absurd to
fire Willie before things play out this season. Any other feeling is just due to fan frustration and impatience. Unrealistic.

Blowing big leads and not knowing what to do in crunch time is a direct reflection on coaching. I think we all want to give him the chance to improve but it needs to happen quickly. Our talent is winning us the games that we win. Whenever it gets close we just hope and pray BI's contested shots go in or Zion is getting out of control foul calls this game. That's not something we can depend on. We completely forget how we operate our offense at the 5 minute mark of the 4thQ.
If this team stays relatively healthy all season and we don't make it past the play-in games into the actual playoffs changes need to made.

You may be right but you also know that this team will probably play better this season under Borrego. That being said- unless Willie improves dramatically, I highly doubt he comes back next season.

It’s not like you fire Willie today and bring in the next Pop tomorrow. The only reason to do something sooner than later is if you want to try out one of the assistants, or he loses the team and you have to fix a toxic locker room.

Also, if the problem is they aren’t tough enough to not get plunked at the end of games by Dillon Brooks, we’ve already tried bringing in a coach to instill toughness and the team thoroughly rejected the concept.

He’s a lame duck for now like Dennis Allen. Nothing will happen in season

It appears the Pels also lack accountability like their football counterparts. Hard to tell where the onus lies. Before you even get to the coach you have to look at ownership and the FO, they orchestrated this

I don’t think anyone is asking for the next Pop. We’re just asking for someone maybe better than Willie (Borrego?). I doubt we’ll fire him in season, but not totally out of the question the team could be better with someone else on our staff in the HC position.

BI in particular hated SVG. So, bringing in a tough coach to yell and cuss out the players who screw up would likely mean getting rid of BI.

On the other hand, SVG actually got almost a full season of good basketball out of Zion. So, if the move that Griffin wants to make is to trade BI and rebuild around Zion, then a tough coach could make sense.

To lend even more to Zion liked Stan but BI is the one that got him fired, Larry in his interview the other night even said Zion and Naji take being yelled at great, BI/Trey etc don’t.

To be fair Shaq wasn’t a big fan of Stan either. I think SVG is a smart coach but he’s completely out of touch with today’s players. You can be tough but also relatable like Udoka, Kidd or Ty Lue.

I wasn’t t sure what thread to post this in, but this was very eye opening and confirms what many of the posters here have been screaming from the mountain tops. How does upper management not see this? Or are they letting Willie do it his way? So infuriating…

I mean they see it but what are you suppose to do? I think they’ll give him the whole season to figure it out which may or not be right.

Does that mean his coaching may cost us wins this season? Probably.
