yes or no?

Definately. Always consider the race to the National Championship when hiring a coach.

NO NO and NO. I don't give a @#$% if it's a freckled Guatemalan Grandma. We just want someone good.

Who gives a shite as long as they get results.

No. That should not be an issue now - the recent election should have taken care of that argument.

Your lying and you know. Many people do care about the race of the coach. There aren't many "like" faces on teams already, and fans would like to see the coach be a mirrored reflection.
But the pool of black coaches is very small. There are white guys that put in years of hard work as less-than-respected slaves with hopes of learning to be head coaches. As well as, white players that acknowledge the slim chances of pro careers and focus on coaching through the helmet.
Many black players hisorically have tunnel vision. Pro career, and nothing else. In time their views on their future will become realistic and seek different routes. But now, most available coaches are white and should not be overlooked or pushed to the side to hire guys like Croom. Ultimately it's bad for black coaches because their small pool takes a hit every time an unqualified coach suffers ie. Ty

If there are racists in AD offices nationwide, you better believe Willingham is the excuse they point to. . .
That being said, I don't think race should ever be a factor in anything.

By forcing it, itll put unjust pressure on black coaches to succeed. That's not fair at all. Which is why my theory is schools/franchises select minority coaches when the program has reached rock bottom and expectations are minimal. All in an effort to get the monkey off their backs. Then move on.

Willingham was hardly unqualified, especially considering he had more success at Stanford where it's basically impossible to win consistantly, than any coach since Pop Warner in the 20s, including Bill Walsh. He had a better record than Weiss at ND. Walked into a horrible situation at Washington and couldn't turn it around, which he acknowledged

He was successful at Stanford, but proved to be unqualified to be the HC at a major program by failing miserably at two major programs.

I think unsuccessful and unqualified are two different things. He was qualified when ND hired him. There was a lot of talk that he actually might get an NFL job before ND picked him up.

My theory as stated above.

Lack of success makes you unqualified, no?

And yes, that is sad that Weiss is that bad.

He had significant success when ND hired him....He was also their second choice behind Oleary when that whole thing went down
After the washington fiasco, a program know might consider his past work to be unqualified, but at the time it wasn't
