If I remember correctly, he initially committed to Purdue out of HS.

1. Oh no, not Purdue!
2. LSU wanted him and he wanted LSU but our coach was a coked-up meatball.

Yeah, and Iowa grows corn! Just because those schools had Heisman candidates...THIS YEAR...doesn't mean he will be a Heisman candidate. Or all you predicting he will. If not,
your statement has no real point. Let me list the ones who he had interest in and did NOT offer. ULL...Miss State...Tulane. Once again, that is a THIN offer sheet for a 4* QB...even a low 4*.

Easy Prediction: Unless LSU gets down to an emergency QB situation next season, Collins will NEVER start a game for LSU...3rd string. Oh, and expect him to transfer after next season.

Maybe as an athlete, I’ll give you that.

Absolute arse as a QB.

Where are all those TROLL posters who keep sarcastically asking "Yeah, but can he play corner?"

That’s a hell of a bold prediction…. Could’ve said the exact same thing about him THIS year. SMH.

The plan has always been to have him develop - he was raw coming out of HS so the staff knew it would take some time. He’s coming along as expected and isn’t going anywhere, so take your sorry a** attempt at trolling and move on.

Why exactly did we not push for KJ Jefferson? Guy is a freak.

No he's not. He is a very athetic QB but he is not a "freak". Above average atheleticism without "smarts" is just average. Add in above average abilty to "think" and now you have something.

If I've seen Swann play (and I probably have) I don't remember him

I agree that on the face of things he looks to be both exactly what we needed and the best available, and with starting SEC experience. He appears to be a great fit, happy to have him aboard.

Brought in because the coaches have no faith in Underwood. He will learn behind Nuss and provide competition for Underwood. Poor Underwood can't catch a break.

If Nussmeier goes to the bench, you're going to lose your fricking Mind.

We needed a backup not a starter.

Either way this is a great move for Swann. Worse case scenario he’s a backup for LSU, gets developed by Sloan, then he could transfer as a grad transfer and be eligible immediately somewhere he could start. So this seems like a win win for both LSU and Swann imo.

Despite what people think, a QB committing to LSU doesn’t make him a 5 star all world QB. Last year we missed on everyone and took a backup plan for depth.

That's an easy prediction to make about every single QB in college football. The vast majority never start and transfer.

So, you aren't exactly going out on a limb.

I feel like no matter what QB we signed from the portal some portion of our fan base is going to expect too much of him since our last 2 were Heisman winners. Swann is not that guy and if we would signed him out of high school instead of transfering, some of those same people would have been bitching that we signed a 3 star QB.

Edited to clarify, Swann is not the guy thats gonna win a Heisman. He may end up a starter for us one day and be decent to good. But I expect that will be post Nuss if at all.

Not one single person is suggesting this.

No one is thinking this.
