Agreed.
I was a teenager during the Monday Night War era. It was wrestling at it's absolute apex. I still watch, but not fanatically like back then.
A lot of people don't realize just how close Eric Bischoff came to putting Vince and WWE out of business.

Randy Orton looks legit, despite no MMA background.
Roman Reigns has a believable look(former ga tech d lineman).
WWE is really getting better now. With CM punk returning etc.
Let's not also forget that Kurt Angle was an Olympic wrestler also.

As a fellow pro wrestling fan, I find the title of this thread funny actually. You like what you like, a lot of people hate on pro wrestling and that's fine. I liken it to part action movie, part stage play and part soap opera. I'm 37 and have been watching it off and on since I was 4, I don't think it's an actual sport like some do however I still enjoy it.

We all are. We watch broadway plays knowing the outcome, watch reality shows knowing theyre fake, and go to places like Disneyland.
All entertainment is mindless and fake.

I don’t know if there is something mentally wrong with them, but the fans are definitely more likely to have mullets.

Yep.
Chad gable was too.
Otis was national class wrestler.
Creed brothers as well. One trained w and helped Daniel cormier.
Lots of legit guys in WWE still.

This is fruitless because you’re clearly set in your ways and incapable of seeing things from different perspectives.
Wrestling's like a live-action TV show – predetermined, scripted, and full of suspense just like TV shows and movies we all watch. Fans don't know the outcome, but the storytelling week-to-week and the athleticism are the real deal. There’s suspension of disbelief and playing into it for fun, though that’s no different really than a bunch of made up random chants and traditions at LSU games or similar.
Wrestlers often come from sports backgrounds, and they put their bodies on the line for entertainment, resulting in very real injuries just like any other sport. So, no, it’s not all fake, and the best athletes are still mesmerizing to watch in action. At its core, wrestling is just another form of art.

When I was in high school I used to go to wrestling every Wed.night at Jimmie Thompson arena on MacArthur Drive.
It was a fairly small venue with front row seats up close to the ring.
It was more fun watching the people in the bleachers, they definitely thought it was real, they would get seriously upset if their guy was losing.Wasn’t at all unusual for fights to break out in the audience.Occasionally there would be brawls in the parking lot afterwards, guys trash talking and fists would start flying.
One night two, wrestlers got mad and started duking it out, blood was flying everywhere, people near the ring were getting splattered with blood. It looked like there had been a hog killing once it broke up.
One night half a dozen guys thought “their” guy got cheated, they waited outside and jumped the wrestler that had “won”,were going to whip his arse and teach him a lesson.
They were the ones that got taught a lesson. It didn’t take long for them to realize they made a bad mistake,it was the ultimate FAFO.It wasn’t even a contest,he had those old boys laid out on the ground quickly.
It really was a blast.
While I was in the Navy it was closed and wrestling was moved to the Coliseum.I went a couple of times but it wasn’t nearly as much fun.The seats were too far from the ring,it was pretty sedate comparatively speaking.

I was asking about wrestling fans.

Mid South Wrestling was real damnit !

It is no different than tying untold amounts of time and money up in the support of a chosen sports team that has literally no impact on ones life whatsoever. Or getting on message boards to bitch about it, calling into radio shows, watching hours of analysis on tv

When I was like 12 years old, I stayed up all night to watch MidSouth Wrestling. JYD was my favorite wrestler. I thought that shite was real too. I watched WCW as I grew older. It’s funny because once I was 16 years old, I thought Wrestlemania 1 was real. Then I realized it was all scripted. Lol

In high school we loved it for about 2 years. It was a male soap opera basically. Good to follow storylines, then I was over it.
