They were talking about monetary offers that Wade was a part of including an offer to Javante Smart. I was accused of spewing BS and that there was no tape of him discussing monetary compensation.

My memory is fuzzy on the Smart situation. I want to say that was about an offer before Wade was at LSU for Smart to go to VCU. But that whole mess was confusing to me at times.

People think I was anti-Wade but I was not. I was hoping it would blow over. The notice of allegations kind of blew up my hopes there. I also was hopeful McMahon would be good at LSU. I guess I need to quit hoping for stuff because it is clearly not helping.

They’re taking about Randolph Morris and Jaron Blossomgame. Blossomgame was in the NBA in 2017 and Morris was in the NBA in 2006. Those tapes yal base all the rumors on were thrown out of court by the judge in the Dawkins case because they were joking around and never discussed any topic in detail. They were shooting the shite.

I cannot find any place where a judge threw out any of the tapes. The tapes related to Wade were never admitted into evidence because they were not needed in the case against Dawkins et. al. Wade was never on trial or charged with anything to my knowledge.

I have also never seen the "I was just kidding" defense work

Look up the Dawkins case. There’s no FBI case vs Wade and it doesn’t matter that they’re talking about the two guys is the point. Nothing irregular or illegal about any of it. It’s not a just kidding defense, it’s a fact

No, the NCAA alleged that Armstrong offered Smarts grandmother money but she says it didn’t happen and they couldn’t prove anything so they hit Wade with “failure to report a potential violation”

I did look up the Dawkins case, All I could find was a judge refusing to throw out the tapes. I did not say there was a case against Wade, just the opposite. I also stated that because the Wade portion of the tape was not used in the prosecution nor was Wade asked to testify there was nothing available to the NCAA off of the public record of the court case.

Nothing illegal that I can see either but I would say irregular. I would also say nothing but the Smart conversation would come into play for LSU. But that wasn't the point of what I was saying. Not saying that Wade did anything other programs don't do nor was I saying he broke any laws or even anything that warranted NCAA scrutiny (definitely not if they weren't going to apply the same level of scrutiny to the blue bloods), only that he was on tape talking about compensating players.

When it comes to the dirtiness of college sports, basketball has always had the worst dark underbelly. Unfortunately, the whole Dawkins thing shone a light, rightly or wrongly, on Wade. We may not agree exactly whose fault this is but I think we almost all agree that LSU basketball is paying the price now.

I know we've had some back-and-forths before but I am really tired of all that and hope LSU basketball can get back on its feet and we can start arguing about which extremely good player should be getting more minutes.
