I see that as of the time of my reply, 17 people do not understand your joke.
I was hoping this was an intended joke, very underrated if so and disappointing if so many didn't get it.

*Aaron Taylor-Johnson
From Kick arse to Godzilla to Avengers to Kraven. He's all over the place.
*Forgot thread was about TOP actors. Not sure he qualifies.

Really surprised nobody has mentioned Paul Bettany.
The fanatical murderer in The Divinci Code, the ship's doctor in Master And Commander, romantic comedy leading man in Wimbledon, the voice of Jarvis in Ironman, etc, etc.
The dude is the definition of an actor with range.

Good call.
I will be watching a movie and I turn to my family and say, "you know who that is, don't you?"
He is a chameleon.

He’s in an absurd movie called Swiss army man where he is a man who can take on many forms like a Swiss Army knife, hence the joke

I was also gonna say Tom Hardy. He has an impressive vocal range in American and British dialects. His performances as both Kray twins, Forrest Bondurant in Lawless, Venom, and lesser known film Stuart, A Life Backwards are some great examples of his character and vocal abilities.

I really have come to like Hardy, but it took for-fricking-ever for him to do a role without some weird vocal affectation: Venom.

How has no one mentioned Matthew Mcconaughey. Dude went from a rom com guy to a legit versatile actor.

Though he has passed away, Robin Williams definitely could.
