I think a lot of fans have no clue. Doc Fenton in 1908. The more you know

That’s pretty good since the Heisman didn’t start until 1935.

Kinda confusing since the first Heisman was awarded in the 1930s.

Billy Cannon won the award in 1959, and in 2009, Doc Fenton was awarded the trophy for his 1908 season, when the National Football Foundation retroactively selected winners from 1889 to 1934. So, Daniels is the fourth LSU player to be named the Heisman winner.

Eh, claiming a Heisman winner awarded 100 years later is akin to Bama claiming all of their national titles.

You can make an argument for 5 NC's sure, but 1908 Heisman is make believe.

In 2009, the National Football Foundation (NFF) retroactively selected Heisman Trophy winners for the years between 1889 and 1934. The selections were made by NFF Historian Dan Jenkins and published by the NFF

Especially since the National Football Foundation has no right to give out the Heisman since it’s not their award.

the National Football Foundation (NFF) retroactively selected Heisman Trophy winners

Don't select Heisman winners so this doesn't mean squat.

Too bad the NFF has nothing to do with the Heisman.

Both Bienville and Iberville, too. That’s six. That is, if we’re counting people who got it before the trophy was instituted.
