As the NFL reaches the home stretch of the 2023 season, the league’s increasing off-field earning power continues to show why football remains king among U.S. professional sports.

Early projections for the 2024 NFL salary cap are reportedly coming in at more than $240 million, representing a significant increase over this season’s $224.8 million that each team is allowed to allocate for player contracts.

2023: $224.8 million

2022: $208.2 million

2021: $182.5 million

2020: $198.2 million

2019: $188.2 million

This season, revenue from the NFL’s new $110 billion media rights deals kicked in, adding a big boost to overall league cash intake. When final numbers come in, 2023 will represent another record year for the NFL.

In 2022, the league is believed to have brought in close to $20 billion in revenue — inching the NFL’s 32 owners closer to commissioner Roger Goodell’s long-stated goal of $25 billion in annual revenue.

The value of a franchise in almost any sport is escalating at the speed of light.

In May 1999, Snyder purchased the Washington Redskins, along with Jack Kent Cooke Stadium for $800 million following the death of Jack Kent Cooke. It was the most expensive transaction in sporting history. Synder had to borrow a lot of his money and had to sell minority shares just to come up with the revenue.

A little over 20 years and running the operation into the ground he sells his investment for over 6 Billion Dollars. That doesn't begin to include all the profits made each year from just TV deals. A pro franchise is never losing money.

QBs will now get $75M/yr and RBs will still be calmmoring for $5-10M/yr coming off a pro bowl seson.

Top TEs will still make $8-9M when they are worth triple that.

All this really changes are the top paid positions like QB, WR, Pass Rusher, and LT.

Everyone else will still get fricked. It's the NFL way.

There’s more expense than just paying your players lol

But yeah. Still good money left over.

Should QBs be exempt from the salary cap?

No other sport can match the NFL in terms of popularity within the United States.

Where is the peak going to be? These teams can't just keep increasing in value for being terrible. At some point we have to reach the zenith. Is that when the old TV contracts roll off?

This is fully justified. The NFL is making the world a much better place in which to live by displaying "END RACISM" on goal post padding and endzone back lines. Racists everywhere are reconsidering.
