Serious question: can Ricky Collins play? I literally never see him discussed in these conversations.

If not, then for everyone's sake (including his) perhaps we should encourage him to seek a more productive opportunity?

Seems like a good guy but if Nuss is the presumptive starter and Colin and perhaps Underwood are nipping at the heels, I would think that puts Collins in an awkward spot.

My broader point is that would open up a spot for an experienced, competent competitive transfer who slots in or even presses Nuss but with the game experience the younger guys lack.

Are you implying that the idiots calling for a replacement actually want a backup? Or that there's any scenario where you get a real "competition"?

We did that with Collins, I thought, but that's one of those consequences of having a historically bad defense. We needed JD to keep playing, so Nuss barely got any snaps and Collins did little more than hand off in a couple of games.

Weird I saw the exact opposite sentiment when we were stat padding. Suddenly reps matter now?

To be fair, Brennan was on these lists ahead of 2020.

And was on pace before his injury

I hope he pans out, I really do. At this point though I'm getting some Miles Brennan flashbacks. I hope they get some competition to make him better.

I get what you’re saying but he had a fantastic mentor in JD5. I’m sure his game has improved and will so even more with true experience. Not mop up duty crap.

I'm hoping the virtual reality tech that helped JD so much will help speed along Nuss' development as well.

You can see at a glance the guy can air it out, I guess the obvious concerns are turnovers and a lack of running ability (though he is a good athlete and can scramble).

Odd that 24/7 short list excluded Dillon Gabriel who just committed to Oregon -- seems an obvious candidate

To be fair. Myles Brennan was on that list also after JB won his heisman

Nuss saw firsthand how much work JD5 put in to be great--surely he knows that's the level it's gonna take to get back to SECCG game and beyond in 2024--so not only virtual reality but everything else: film study AND an incredible work ethic AND spending lots of additional hrs with the wideouts to build chemistry in the offseason (Burrow did that too) AND getting 1000s of add'l reps as QB1 etc etc

Equally vital I think: they need a similar commitment by the wideouts who'd greatly benefit from the "10000 Catches" drills that Chase JJets and Terrace Jr did in 2019 // Drops absolutely killed us in critical points this season and it wasn't limited to 1-2 guys

Will be a fun offseason to see the new players and coaches coming in and I think Nuss will challenge himself and teammates to be great

Myles was not on pace for the Heisman before he got hurt.

Not in his first year no. Just like Burrow and Jayden in theirs. He was doing very well though.

Probably should just do what teams did before and recruit good players to be backups and next in lines

Live in the 1990s if you like. 3 of the Heisman finalists this year (and in Burrow's year) were QB transfers.

Out of how many total transfer QBs? What's the percentage on that?
