A friend of mines dad gave her a PRS SE Custom 24. It's a beautiful faded blue. She recently loaned it to me to give her some feedback about it. She's not a big player, mostly a little acoustic stuff so she tells me it's really not her thing and will sell it to me. I'm curious if any of you players own one or have played one. I've had it for 3 or 4 days and I cant put it down. It's made in Indonesia if that should be a concern but these days I think a lot of really decent axes come out of those plants.
This is what the literature says about it. "The SE Custom 24 brings the original PRS design platform to the high-quality, more affordable SE line up of instruments. Played by internationally touring artists, gigging musicians, and aspiring players, the SE Custom 24 features a maple top, mahogany back, wide thin maple neck, rosewood fretboard with bird inlays, and the PRS patented molded tremolo bridge. Its versatile sounds come from the 85/15 “S” pickups paired with a volume, push/pull tone control, and 3-way blade pickup selector.

The SE Custom 24 is a modern classic with roadworthy durability, addictive playability, and wide array of tones, making it a perfect workhorse guitar."
I see it online mostly for about $800, she will let me have it for 600. Exactly like this one. Would you bite the bullet?

One almost followed me home. Not a damned thing wrong with them.

They are great guitars. Maybe try a few new ones to see if another one stands out. But, if you like it and would play it, nothing wrong with saving 200 on a new guitar. Go for it.

Not crazy about the look, but love the sound.
I really love the trem on those. Articulate beyond belief.
Was going to buy 1 last year that was more of a honey color, but somebody beat me to it.

Feel bad for her dad. He wasted about 2k on his daughter. PRS Custom 24

I've got one in charcoal. Can't find anything bad to say about it. I'd say it's not typically my style, but after staring at them for a while I liked them more and more. I switch between this and my much more expensive Gibson and not a noticeable difference in the details like fretwork. Stays intyne very well, even when messing with the tremolo. Push-pull split on the humbuckers gives it some versatility. I don't think there's many better guitars at this price.

I've had a custom 22 since the late 90's. Not sure if they still make them like that anymore, but it's a damn solid guitar!

I have two. One is a 594 McCarty SC and the other is a DGT SE. Both are absolutely amazing guitars and the craftmaship 8s second to none. I was extremely surprised at how well made the DGT SE was made.

If you like it, buy it!

PRS SE a great guitar.

Like most guitars, the cheaper line is made over seas, and has different wood and guts, but the difference is negligible. I own a PRS SE as well.

Nothing wrong with Indonesian made. The skills on display are on par with American and Japanese luthiers. What matters is the level of instrument you’re getting.

I still remember the Gibson Les Pauls with shitty fretwork, wiring issues and crappy paint jobs for 5k

A friend of mine that plays professionally in a band we've all heard of says PRS makes guitars the way Gibson used to.
