There was a stat that showed it's almost statistically impossible for so many of the jackpot winners to come from CA. Something shady may have been occurring.

Probably the same person bought both tickets.
Plays the same numbers, bought a ticket earlier in the week for Friday's drawing and forgot or meant to buy the second ticket for Tuesday's drawing. Ended up with two tickets for Friday with the same numbers.
It's either that or we now have confirmation that time travel is real.

Funny how nany winners are from California.
Well, it is the most populated state in the US by 9 million residents. Likely sells most tickets. It’s not “funny” if you apply a little bit of logic.

Yea it's statistics.
If you have a raffle let's say and you sell 100 tickets.
If one person buys 40 of the 100 they are much more likely to win than the person who bought 1.
Sp a state that will sell likely much more tickets than any other will have a better chance of winning

11% of Americans reside in California. If you hear about someone in the news, there's a decent chance they're from California.
According to your post, there would be an 11% chance

A few years back when there was a big jackpot, my ex-wife bought a ticket and posted a picture of it on her Facebook page. I immediately bought a ticket with the same numbers and so did several of my friends: I thought it would be hilarious if she somehow won… and then found out she had to split the jackpot with me. :)

Could be some lazy Chinese Fortune cookie maker for a Chinese restaurant nearby and 2 different people got the same numbers and bought them at the same gas station on the way home.

They knew each other and shared the same numbers. It's the only explanation.
maybe a husband and wife couple that always plays the same numbers and they both stopped after work to pick up a ticket

And Shohei signs today for 700mil. Hmmmmm

I thought you had a greater chance of getting struck by lightning than winning mega jackpots

Exactly. Happened here in Canada & its happened before by someone simply forgetting that they had already played their numbers earlier in the week. Zero percent chance that these are 2 random quick picks.

Starting to think the lottery is money laundering - seems like California wins every time its a large jackpot.
I was thinking the same thing when I read the headline. California has gotten a couple of them over a billion right?
Posted on 12/9/23 at 4:42 pm to tiggerthetooth
I know a guy that buys 2 tickets with the same numbers every time. Says just in case he wins with someone else. Then the jackpot is spit 3 ways and he gets 2 shares of it.

Rather amazing that the state with the highest taxes always has the lottery winner.
California doesn't tax lottery winnings. I know that because I and 12 other coworkers split a $42,000 ticket on one of the big drawings in 2022 when I was working in San Jose. We pooled our money to buy tickets for every drawing.
They don't tax groceries either, unlike Louisiana, which taxes both lottery winnings and groceries.

According to the California Lottery, both tickets were sold at a Chevron along Ventura Boulevard
Did vampires buy them while moving west?
