Godfather 1 and 2–What is your favorite scene?

Pentangeli meets with Tom
I’ve always lumped these two movies together because IMO they’re the best movies ever made and it’s impossible to list one over the other.
It may be overlooked but for me, this scene where Tom meets Pentangeli in prison is such a beautiful scene.
It’s never directly implied but it becomes obvious Tom is giving him the option of committing suicide and letting him know his family will be taken care of. The almost overbearing sound of birds caw’ing to represent death, the “see ya, Tom” line at the end. Whew.

Liking The Godfather threads recently.

Part 2 where Fredo meets with Michael and Michael slowly digs in to him while he sinks deeper in his chair is incredible on all fronts.

I absolutely adore the scene where the young Vito Corleone (played by Robert De Niro) stalks Don Fanucci before killing him in The Godfather Part II.

It’s only maybe a couple of minutes long but I love the scene when Clemenza is showing Mike how to cook for 20 guys.
It also makes me crave pasta![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

So many great scenes in these movies but how about the one where Michael discovers the traitor (Superman scene with Fredo), "Johnny Ola told me about this place".
Love Michael's reaction

So many great scenes to choose from.
For me, one of the funniest is when Senor Roberto goes to see young Vito about letting the lady stay in the apartment instead of evicting her.
One of the coldest is when Abe Vigoda (Sal), after being found out for trying to set up Michael in a meeting to be killed asks Tom if he could get him off the hook "for old times sake" and Tom just shakes his head and says "Can't do it Sally".

Extremely hard to pick a favorite scene.
I guess I’ll go with the meeting of the families.
The Don displays his power and cunning in the meeting like a boss.
I also love the whole opening wedding sequence of the first movie.
In the second movie I like all the flashback scenes.

Too many to choose from. Obviously Michael murdering Solozzo is up there for me in the first Godfather as well as the Baptism scene with the murders of the heads of the other families.
Young Vito killing Fanucci might be my favorite scene in Godfather II. Both movies are masterpieces IMO

I recently purchased a bootleg of The Godfather Saga (the chronological cut of 1 & 2) and I might need to find the time this week to watch it.

I love the flashback scene at the end of part 2, where it’s their pop’s birthday and Mike is home from college and has just enlisted. All four of the brothers’ (counting Tom) personalities come out. Sonny introduces his sister to Carlo.
But, there are so many good scenes. Hyman telling Michael that “this is the business we’ve chosen”. Sonny getting the call from his sister after Carlo beat her. Maybe my favorite is Vito making peace with the other heads of the families, and says if anything happens to Michael, “if he is struck by a bolt of lightning”, then he will hold some of those people responsible.

Why don’t you just ask me which one of my kids I like the best? Good grief.

A favorite of mine is when Vito and young Clemenza break into the mansion to steal the rug.

The scene where Apollonia gets blown up in the car instead of Michael. That scene to me was the start of Michael becoming one vicious mother fricker in general.

I always loved the scene where young Vito Corlene hops rooftop to rooftop following the Don then eventually killing him.
