I see my pychiatrist once or twice a month.

Went to the highest rated sleep center in Jacksonville and saw their lead doctor.

im not a dr but I do have a CPAP machine that I quit using after I had the rotor rooter surgery.....

1. Resection of soft palate and uvula
2. Remove tonsils
3. Straighten septum
4. Resect turbinates

I sleep much better and I dont have to wear or carry/travel around with a darth vader mask

For every person that had UP3 surgery and it resolved their sleep apnea, there are probably twice to 3 times as many that it didn't work. There is a reason that surgery is rarely done anymore. Horrible solution for treating sleep apnea.

Tell the board about the recovery. Can you think of a more miserable time in your life?

The question is are you really sleeping. I know many with apnea (more common than most would think) and they are shocked when they actually do a real study with LOTS of data (the oxygen on my finger all night just monitors oxygen). Full blown study (pain in the arse) will have 20 - 40 different leads and look at all kinds of data. Also have person on site watching you all night in a different room.

Not an MD, just old and been a caregiver for good half a century at least. Seen all kinds of stuff and pay attention to details. It gets harder with the internet and lots of bandwidth with terrible advice. Check with the DoI in your state and find the worker who focuses on health insurance. If you treat them like a human and not some government toad, you may be shocked at the info you get.

Lots of people are good at their jobs, find the one that gets to the questions you should be asking.

Slim people can get it. My sister weighed 104 pounds and she had sleep apnea. She has since gained weight, but we won’t go there! lol

Has anyone tried the Inspire device as opposed to a CPAP?

I think the Inspire has limitations on who can get the implant. Harder to get qualified than the commercials would imply.

I cant say it enough.....but I was warned....it was 100x's worse than what I was warned about.....I thought I knew what to expect.

Boy was I wrong......I went through the first bottle of the liquid pain medicine 2 days early, thank god the Dr called me in another bottle a couple days early. I was scared to death for the medicine to wear off.....I literally had to take a dose every 4 hours on the dot but even that wasnt enough

And sorry, not trying to sound harsh. It's just a little irritating when everyone on here thinks they're an MD
I am an MD. You're suffering from a lack of sleep, either through narcolepsy or poor sleep pattern. Poor sleep pattern could be secondary to intermittent apneic interruption. It could be d/t other issues. You've obviously been through sleep studies. Having someone given your SxSx on afternoon adderall is questionable.

Adderall at 2pm is not going to interfere with my sleep at 11pm.

I went with the highest reviewed place I saw, had a 5 star rating with over 500 reviews. But depending on what I hear when I contact them for a more detailed report and what I hear when the CPAP company calls me, I may seek out a 2nd opinion.

Although, just to help me understand, if they've already diagnosed me with severe sleep apnea and are going to put me on a CPAP, are there downsides to that? What would be the benefit of a 2nd opinion? I guess to see if they diagnose it as something other than obstructive sleep apnea?

Have used a CPAP for 13 years. Not overweight at all. Highly recommend it.

There are different types of apnea and some folks can have different types which is what the sleep study figures out. The guy who lost the leg got put on Cpap but actually needed the bipap.

BTW, check with the DoI and DoH in your state about the brand they put you on.

It's really the best thing ever. I'd do commercials for those guys for free if they asked.
