Validating Tulane president Michael Fitts’ official statement Sunday that Tulane would hire a new football coach within a week, sources indicated former Tulane board chairman Doug Hertz was taking the lead role for new athletic director David Harris’ search committee, and Willie Fritz’s replacement will be in place by Friday.

Speed is essential with the transfer portal having opened Monday, and the Dec. 20 early signing day approaching. The Wave already received a blow when redshirt freshman wide receiver Chris Brazzell, a burgeoning star who has caught a team-high 44 passes for 711 yards, entered the portal along with quarterbacks Kai Horton and Carson Haggard.

Definitely have someone in mind for it to happen this quickly.

Fitz told Tulane over a week ago that he was leaving for Houston and Tulane began the coaching search the next day. The Coach they will announce is a current Head Coach and its a name that has not been mentioned in the media yet. Coach with a proven track record similar situation to that of Fitz when they hired him.

Thanks for the info.

So small school guy that has been around awhile and just won everywhere.

I’m sure smarter people can figure that out.

Really??

He's 60 years old, never been a HC anywhere but Nicholls, been there for 9 years and they have never really done that much. Been to the Div 1 playoffs 4 times and never made it out of the 2nd round.

This is no offense to Rebowe or Nicholls, but you would think that Tulane could do better.

That would be a homerun for Tulane. If he does well he's gone in 2-3 years, but thats ok.

That’s what I have heard but you can’t believe anything lol. Tulane is so secretive about everything.

Been at AF for 15+ years as HC. Maybe time for a change.

This isn't a bad hire, just a very strange one. Like you wouldn't see this coming.
