Tulane has wanted to avoid this. This is why I am shocked outside of the money they didn't give Fritz everything he asked for. He would have stayed for another 5 years and retired.

Fritz wanted nicer facilities and campaigned hard for them after the Cotton Bowl win. The Tulane supporters didn’t step up and donate. Tulane fans blame it on their old AD having 1.75 feet out the door. Whatever the reason was, the end result was the same; Tulane couldn’t and/or didn’t deliver on what they promised him.

This isn’t totally true.

The new IPF/Bubble is slated to open by August. It was delayed a bit due to the City having some permitting/zoning issues. Supposedly to do with drainage, etc. but it’s moving forward now. They’ve released renderings.

They’ve released renderings of a Sports Ops building to be built behind north end zone and also into north endzone. I do think that’s likely closer to 2025, but they haven’t released timeline

But the IPF is supposed to be done by August.

Quick move. I like the decisiveness. It also tells me they started the process before Fritz announced.

So they didn’t buy Fritz and his comments about retiring here.

Or he could have informed them last year that if the Houston job opened he was going to take it. They gave him a raise and a cheap buyout because he had the chips in his corner.

You can exclude Atkins, Nagle, Sumrall, Baker, Sloan, Coach O, and Rodriguez from the list. It is not any of those coaches.

Correct Tulane had commenced the Coaching search awhile ago as Fitz had told them he was taking the Houston job. They were not caught flat footed as some believe but Fitz's remarks about investing in the program are still front and center of getting Tulane into the ACC.

As long as Nagle isn't on the list....

You sound confident. Sounds like Tulane is scheming something up from out of the bleachers. This is gonna be interesting.

I don't disagree with them leaning into it. It's just crazy that they likely had a chance to keep the coach of their biggest revenue generator for another 5 years and wouldn't do what they had to.

We couldn't force his daughter to move to New Orleans.

We gave him a low buyout when he signed his extension after the Cotton Bowl. We have begun the infrastructure items that have been lacking. We offered him the same salary Houston gave him.

However, we're not in the P5. We aren't in the city where his daughter lives and where his wife's friends live. There's no shame in that, and I wish him the best.
