The transfer portal/NIL has to be wreaking havoc on recruiting strategies?

Before the transfer portal and NIL, 100% of the recruiting budget was going to pay for plane tickets for coaches, visiting players/families, hotels, meals and car rentals to name just a few, but things have definitely changed in the five years since the portal began.

According to The Athletic, based on last year's numbers, the 69 programs (including Notre Dame) that play in Power 5 conferences lost an average of 18.5 scholarship players to the portal. That's staggering because that's just the average and also doesn't include the players that had no eligibility left. With that being said, it's safe to assume college recruiting is no longer about just landing HS players.

If I had to guess, I would assume the most important goal of every program, sadly, is first re-recruiting current players, then bringing in transfer/JUCO players, and lastly, recruiting high school players. I've always been a firm believer that you build your program with high school players, but that has clearly taken a shift in the opposite direction.

Just because you land a great high school player, doesn't mean they're going to be there long term. According to 247Sports, more than 62 percent of QB starters among Power 5 schools were transfers. That's staggering and somewhat disturbing!

The days of staying with a program for four years and having school pride is quickly becoming a thing of the past. Next year's LSU defense is a prime example. I think it's safe to say more than half of the defensive starters next year are currently on another team's roster.

I hate it with a passion, but that's what happens when money and winning at all costs is most important!

Implying that recruiting is the same in this NIL / transfer era as it ever was just shows how dumb you are.

Which is odd because you always seem to act like everyone else is misinformed, but you always seem to have horrible takes yourself.

Implying that I was implying that just shows how dumb you are. I even quoted the post so stupid people would not get confused.

The second sentence literally has change in it. Not sure why you assume I think recruiting is the same

The guy is dumb as rocks. He criticizes you for opposing any change despite the fact you oppose specific changes and gave valid reasons.

It’s a business. Like declining to play in a bowl game to preserve a redshirt for your own personal gain.

I ain’t sweating it because I don’t let emotion determine my opinions& views like you all do.

My advice to you: take the emotion out of it.

You troll on the internet as a hobby. You’re the last person anyone would take advice from.

People think a troll is anyone who triggers them. I’d rather be right then get a reaction out of you just because.

Oh no you got him. How dare he not play with half a roster in a meaningless bowl! Selfishly trying to preserve an entire year of eligibility. The audacity.

Irrelevant.

Coaches are paid stupid amounts of money. It’s their job to figure it out. If they can’t, they did not deserve the stupid amount of money they were being paid.

This is sound advice. I'm applying this logic to this year's men's basketball team. I find it more difficult to do with our football team.

You sound like a typical liberal who always cries about others and what they do instead of focusing on yourself. Typically this happens because you’re a loser. Get better, bro. Read some books, get a job.

Ironic, since you're rarely right but always seem to get a reaction

Speaking of "change", most people are totally unaware that the definition of "internet troll" was ORIGINALLY "a person who hijacks a thread to try to change the subject to something unrelated in order to further promote his agenda", like, say, bringing up Biden or Trump in a thread with nothing to do with politics....

But in this era of name-calling and vocabulary-challenged internet users, it just felt so good to call anyone with an opposing viewpoint a "troll", it quickly became popularly misused so often that the original definition is lost, and now it's just a meaningless aphorism to dismiss any opposing viewpoint, and an internet troll is now "anyone in a thread I'm in who doesn't agree with me"....

So a liberal who argues his viewpoint to a group of conservatives will quickly be labelled a troll, but those same ones calling him a troll will themselves be accused of "trolling" if they bring up their Trump-love to a thread full of liberals.... It's lost any objective definition.

See, now I'm an internet troll, not because I've argued or agreed/disagreed with anyone, but I've changed the subject to "linguistics, word origins, and etymology"

It just needs to go back to the old way. If you transfer, you sit out a year. At best, you only need to be able to transfer after junior year. See what happens with that
