Remember when he sophomore slumped hard to start the season last year and most posters were indifferent to trading him? Hopefully this teaches us to have a little patience.

He is the most valuable player on the court a lot lately. You need a solid team to win in the NBA, so the firepower from our offensive guys important, but the defense and how he LEADS the team on defense is nothing short of amazing. All that room on offense when Z and BI are getting all the attention helping him improve his offensive game and those open 3's is just icing.

Gotta eliminate those nasty "foot faults" but...his 3-pt shot just looks "different" this year. Seems like there's very few really bad misses.

Getting a bit deep in the weeds here...but his huge leap on stats such as eFG% and even more importantly...his TS%... are probably not noticed or appreciated by most folks...who mainly concentrate on his defense.

He's getting better at finishing at the hoop which leads to his FTr going up every year so far. He understands he should basically only shoot 3-pters & 3 footers...and I've said this before...but I STILL have NO idea what his ceiling is...on the offensive end of the court. The guy is even better than I thought he was gonna be...and I had him very highly rated...from the start.

It’s funny that we’re even having this discussion but it’s not like we have a stories history of great players so I definitely think he’s in the discussion.

If he stays out of foul trouble and plays considerable minutes, we typically win those games. We struggle when he picks up two quick fouls and has to sit.

I assume you mean the franchise’s greatest player(going back to the arrival of the Hawnets). I love Herb, but I’m not sure I’m ready to make that pronouncement. If you’re talking about his game, I’d have to say that CP3 at his peak was pretty amazing.

Let’s give Herb another season, and he may be the greatest.

in terms of all-around game, he certainly on his way to becoming that...

he was already known for his hustle and defensive capability, but his basketball IQ and his improved shooting have come along so much, that he is, by far, the best all-around player we have.... the only thing he has to be better at, now, is being more consistent with his offensive output... he still has games where he absolutely disappears and is a non-factor on the offensive side of the ball... that and cutting down on his fouls, as there are games where he gets in early foul trouble, forcing him to alter his aggression on the defensive end and cuts into his minutes

I’m not sure if he’s the best pelican in this team, but it is an interesting thought experiment to ask how many teams in the nba would choose herb jones if allowed to add any pelican to their roster?

I think most western conference playoff teams plus Boston, Milwaukee are choosing Herb.

He might now be a cornerstone but he fits in with any title contender in the league.
