Fun recent purchase of mine

I’ll upload some pics at some point. I get a lot of autographs in person at MiLB games. I don’t sell, but will trade occasionally. Some notables that have passed through local ballparks that have signed for me:
Mike Trout
Jose Altuve
George Springer
Alex Bregman
Yuli Gurriel
Cody Bellinger
Kris Bryant
Corey Kluber
Sandy Alcantara
Corbin Burnes
That’s a slew of MVPs and Cy winners.
I have thousands of in-person signatures on cards. They’re easier for me to store.
I also collect old LSU programs, game worn jerseys, and anything related to my favorite teams (LSU, Spurs, Guardians, Rockies). I don’t collect much NFL outside of autographs.

So question for the card geeks here.
I inherited a bunch of old baseball and football cards from the 50s that are in really good condition. I'm thinking about selling them. What's the best way to do this?
I don't have any complete sets but they are about 50-80% complete. Should I try to sell/trade duplicates and other cards to complete certain sets under the theory that it would be easier to sell a complete set?
What are the opinions on grading companies? Legit or waste of money?
Should I send off the high value cards to PSA to get graded to benchmark the overall condition of the cards and hope I get lucky with a few high grades?
Is eBay a good place to sell or should I look elsewhere?

You could sell lots or “starter sets” on eBay. I think eBay gets you to the widest audience if you’re selling. As for grading and whatnot, I’ll let the others chime in.

You can find estimated values on PSA's website.
130point will let you search for history of actual sales of a card but I'm not sure about cards that old.
I'd post photo arrays of each sport separately on baseball and football cards reddit and ask for advice. Heads love this kind of story and you will get some solid advice.
Will also find data on ebay vs auction vs consignment.
You might even be lucky with some of these being high end items that can be sent to Goldin and skipping the wait on getting graded and slabbed.
Congrats on the hit.

So my father has been collecting tickets stubs to every game he attends since the 80’s. He has 4 tickets for every Saints game since 1981 among a host of others.
Recently he noticed the tickets stub for Wk1 matchup for the saints was selling for over $1k. It was Troy Aikmans first game. He has 4 of them in mint condition with one of them autographed.

Is BowmanU stuff any good or crap?

It's crap, but fun to collect for us college fans, which is what collectibles is all about

Ticket stubs have been a hot collectible the last few years. Think about it. It’s as close to the game as you can get, were printed in a limited number, and most weren’t kept. So they make a pretty rare collectible that is directly related to the game.
I hate that events have gone to virtual tickets now.

Paid $10 for a lot of Cam Thomas cards that came with this. SGC slabs are so dang ugly
Also have to rep my Gunners after a big win Sunday. Annoying that Panini doesn't have the RC logo on these even though this is his rookie set
Gabi has the RC logo tho

Picked up 39 cards from 4 PSA orders this past weekend. Here's a few of my favorites that I still have.
21 10s, 14 9s, 2 8s, 2 6s

I was collecting cards for a short period of time in the steroid era of baseball. I have a shite ton of Sammy Sosa, Ken Griffey Jr, and Mark McGwire cards but as cool as they are, I doubt they’re worth any money.

Its a growing market. Fanatics has licensing for all schools, so nothing is holding them back from making a good product. Strapping the Bowman brand on was genius because its basically made a prospect market in football comparable to baseball. It wont reach the heights of baseball because no matter how nice the product, not everyone wants college uniforms, but its still going to be a good market.
Since its the offseason, I have started to invent in Jackson Arnold and Dante Moore, and will grab some Nico Bowman's Best once it cools. Blue Chip QBs are the top prospects/draft picks in baseball. Caleb Williams, Shadeur Sanders, and Drake Maye have proved that this season. Its going to be grade and hold on the QBs just like baseball prospects.

You would be surprised how much some of the inserts and parallels are worth.
