There’s one week where Texas looked better than Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

Let's review the Texas game.

Texas dominated Alabama's o-line, had 5 sacks(Milroe's scrambling avoided at least 5 more), 9 TFL, held Bama RB's to 62 yards on 20 carries. Secondary also dropped 3 gimme int's

Bama's front 7 did well against Texas' rushing attack, but it crippled their pass rush. Ewers was pressured only 3 times in 41 drop backs and never sacked. And Bama's vaunted secondary proved incapable of covering Sanders/Worthy/Whittington/Mitchell as they were wide open all night

Bama was outgained by 100 yards and almost 1/3 of their total yards came on 2 busted plays by the Texas secondary.

Why is Texas-Bama even a discussion? If there were a rematch, it would take an absolute fluke for Bama to win as Texas would have to beat themselves. There are no adjustments that can be made for the above, it would simply be repeated

Why do you only want to talk about one game?

Don’t want to talk about Texas’ loss to OU?
Or about how the SEC >>> Big 12?

If they all win, it shakes out like this

1. Michigan
2. FSU (although I don’t like it with Travis out)
3 & 4: Who the hell knows. They’ll have to decide between:

Bama: SEC Champs. Beat UGA, but lost to Texas

Texas: Big 12 champs. Beat Bama at Tuscaloosa, lost to OU

Washington: Only loss to #3 team, who they beat earlier in the year

UGA: Only loss to Bama in SEC Championship game

Oregon: PAC 12 champs. Only loss to Washington who they beat in championship game.

tOSU: Only loss to #1 team by 6.

You’ll have 6 teams who can make an argument for the last 2 spots. I think you can immediately eliminate Washington and tOSU. With as hot as Oregon has been, I think you put them in at 3. That leaves Bama, Texas, and UGA for the last spot. Regardless of who gets it, the two who don’t will riot. I’d love to see both Tuscaloosa and Austin burn in that situation.

So let's use logic.

Bama wins SEC CG
Texas wins BIG 12 CG
SEC>B12
Thus Bama>Texas

Yet we already watched Texas dominate Bama on their home field in September

Who gives a shite if the SEC>B12, what Bama beating Georgia would really prove is Texas>SEC

And Texas beat themselves vs OU. Gabriel had a hell of a game, but Texas had 3 unforced turnovers and goal line/4th down playcalling that made Pete Carroll look like a genius. Despite that, Texas still outgained OU by 40 yards and had the lead with 30 seconds on the clock.

Texas beats OU 9 times out of 10, anyone who watched that game closely saw that despite Gabriel's heroics, Texas absolutely beat themselves.

You will find out next year that playing one SEC team on your schedule is a lot different than playing a full slate. Congrats on that big win in September, but Texas should have taken care of business against its B-league.

One loss SEC Champ is a better resume than a one loss Big 12 Champ every single time.

Going 12-0 in the SEC, then a close loss to one loss Bama in the SECCG, is a better resume than being a one-loss PAC or one loss Big 12 team.

If I can help it, I don’t want any conference championship game loser in the CFP

Let’s say Bama beats UGA in a closely fought, one score game. In this event, the top 4 should be:

1. Michigan
2. FSU
3. Bama
4. UGA

That ain't happening in that case.

1. Michigan
2. FSU
3 & 4 will be two of these three Texas/Oregon/Bama How the other games play out will make a difference which.

Big difference between a UGA who loses close CCG against Bama and a 2022 TCU who lost CCG to Kansas State. TCU still got in. So should UGA in that scenario.

One loss SEC > one loss Pac or one loss Big12 team

So Bama rolls through the conference with no serious threat aside from yesterday, which is their chief rival so records are irrelevant, a game which Bama really should have lost.

Meanwhile Texas pummels Bama and their one loss was vs their chief rival, who also happened to be a top 15 team overall, looking to avenge a 49-0 embarassment from the prior year, a game which Texas really should have won.

Are we really trying to justify a team has a better resume than a team with an equal record that proved they're the better team on the field?

Texas proved they were better than Bama on that day in September.

That doesn’t automatically mean their resume at the end of the season is better.

One loss SEC > One loss Big 12

65-7

This

A resume is 13 games, not 1

Until you get to the point where you have to win one game to get in the CFP. Then if you lose, you should be out, because otherwise, why did you even play the game?

What it should be under that scenario:

Michigan
Oregon
FSU
Texas

What it will be in that scenario:

Michigan
Oregon
Texas
Bama

Texas is really going to screw over UGA if UGA loses. I think we would all agree UGA is better than Texas but you just can't put in a 1 loss SEC Champ Bama team in over a 1 loss Big 12 Champ Texas team that beat Bama head to head. You definitely can't put in a 1 loss non-SEC Champ UGA team over a 1 loss Big 12 Champ Texas team that beat the same Bama team that beat UGA.

Regular season games still matter and Bama shouldn't have lost that game in September.

Even if FSU beats Louisville this week I don't see the committee putting them in. They no longer look like a Top 4 team. A one loss UGA or a one loss Washington team most likely deserve to be in over an undefeated FSU team. Really stinks for FSU what happened with Travis.

if bama beats uga, they still would need texas or fsu to lose in this scenario. they won't get in over texas or unbeaten fsu. i have no idea if the committee would put them ahead of oregon, maybe they would.

Well not every time, as this time that one loss SEC champ loss to the Big12 champ. Maybe Alabama should schedule weaker games since they can’t compete?
