It didn’t hurt that they played multiple teams like Rice, Tulsa and ECU along the way. Those were all one score games vs shite teams, by the way. Tulane is a well-coached team, but the hype goes a bit far sometimes
Those are Tulane’s peers. You can’t expect them to dominate say Rice the way a top level SEC team does.

Attending Tulane football games is a breath of fresh air all around. Last few years you’ve seen enough nfl talent to be entertained. Team has been well coached, but there are real holes on every team at this level so there is always a little weirdness in the game.
Atmosphere is . . . great. It’s not peak tiger stadium, but tiger stadium largely blows outside of one or two games a year.
Tulane embraces that. It’s casual. You walk up late. Leave early. Enjoy a couple beers, a snowball, and generally don’t take anything too seriously. No headaches with a Tulane game

There is a lot of talk among the big money people (i.e. state legislators, senators, personal injury lawyers, etc.) that the state is looking to change Tulane to the new state university of Louisiana. It would still remain private but LSU will be changing its name to LSSU (Louisiana Secondary State University) and Tulane would retain the Tulane name but also receive primary funding from the state.
Remember when Kathleen Blanco was going to let LSU lose its flagship status and was going to make ULL the new flagship Louisiana University? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

Yes. Very hard to stack wins in 2023 against Auburn, Arkansas, and Mississippi State. A lot of great teams in SEC.
Shame on Tulane for even getting out of bed and trying with a subpar schedule.

This is exactly why my wife, who could give a rat about college football, enjoys going to Tulane games with me. It’s low pressure, but the past two seasons have been a blast.
