Grass cutting hours by year

Was doing my annual maintenance on my mower and was looking at the logs. This year’s drought really cut down on hours spent cutting. A couple of cuts were just to knock down the weeds.
2018: 57.5
2019: 62.5
2020: 55
2021: 60
2022: 58
2023: 32.5
Takes about 1.25 hours to cut. Might make one more pass this year

Yep. Didn't have to cut nearly as much this year with only spot cutting where grass grew under large trees. A nice break from being bounced around in the yard.

I hope he has an hour meter on it or that is really anal for a homeowner.

I'll ask my yard guy how many hours he has on his mower.

You cut your grass almost once a week (48 times per year)? Good Lord.

I recall years ago amidst a long dry spell and hearing no lawnmowers around the neighborhoods

The more often you cut it the less wear and tear you put on the lawn mower in tall grass

I keep a maintenance log. I typically do all the maintenence at one time at the very end of the yearso it is easy to see how many hours I run each year

Less than that. 1.25 hours if I am in a hurry. Generally go slower. It also get used to haul the trash cans to the end of my road two days a week and spraying Roundup

I buy the cheapest push mower from Home Depot (usually $150-200). Granted my yard is only half an acre. Do absolutely zero maintenance on it. They last for 6-7 years, throw it in the trash and go buy a new one.

I thought I was the odd one in keeping track of when I cut my grass. I cut my grass as often as normal this year during the hotter months, but cut it less after mid-September. I normally finish cutting for the year in mid-October, but wet weather and warmer temperatures have it looking like it could be cut once more before it goes dormant.

Ask him how much time he spent on your wife as well

Ditto. The nearly cheapest thing they have at Lowes with a Honda Engine. I don't mess with the oil... just check it and add when needed. I don't run it out of gas at the end of winter.Well, I get the blade sharpened, but that's not "mechanical". It cranks up on no worse than the third pull the first time in the spring. The only thing I do is get 0 ethanol gas in a 2 1/2 gallon container at the gas station down the street. And it's just gone through it's 8th year.
