Zimbabwe declared a state of emergency in its capital city, Harare amid a deadly outbreak of the medieval disease, cholera.

What you are seeing below is raw sewage flowing in the streets of Harare due to an unserviced old sewage system left by the colonial government.

This is what happens when political leadership fails a country and focuses its energises on looting public funds and plundering the country’s natural resources.

This level of total collapse is not only tragic, but it is now bringing diseases for Zimbabweans, yet their public health system is totally collapsed!

What a disaster. This is going to cost AT LEAST 100 billion Zimbawean dollars ($3.50 US) to fix.

Step one: fix the pipes.

Step two: use bleach and/or chlorine as appropriate.

Well it's not a medieval disease, but I get your point. Watch, it will happen in Jackson, MS some day.

That body of water looks like most of the ones throughout sub sahara africa.

It would be interesting to know how many of the people commenting in this thread have ever stepped foot on the continent.

fricking Europeans.

They should have continued to maintain the sewerage system after they were kicked out.

Isn't Cholera still somewhat common in India, one of the most unsanitary countries on Earth?

I remember someone posted a map of India, and it interposed parts of India finally getting indoor plumbing over the past 40 years with Cholera outbreaks, and there was obviously a direct correlation.
