Arizona State is a mess this year.

I shook my head a few times Saturday when I heard announcers spewing about Nix having this amazing game against ARIZONA (who's ranked just below LSU).

GA State could very well beat ASU this year.

The lack of depth / research by some of these talking heads is flabbergasting.

but the Pac 12 didn't "Switch" to 9 conference games for SOS purposes.

You may be correct in that the SOS was not the motivating factor. However, the Commissioner spoke about it several times in 2013/2014 (don't recall when they moved to 9) and said the effect on the SOS was a major factor as the committees were putting more emphasis on SOS.

Stat padding was the difference between Colt McCoy and Sam Bradford. OU doesn’t regret it; neither will we

Having a Pac12 schedule might as well be “stat padding “ any way

Bo Nix’s entire schedule has been stat padding. They have played 1 team currently ranked in the top 25. And lost

I mean that isn't really germane to what I was talking about, but yes.

Look, I'm a huge JD fan. Was since he signed with us. Wasn't even mad about the recruiting shite his family got caught up with since everyone else was doing it. Dude is incredible, one of the best quarterbacks I've ever seen. He should win the Heisman. He is the best player in the country.

The only LSU entity I'm pissed at is Mawae for being a snitch. "Allegedly."

Oh, and I'm still a little butt hurt about that 4th and a miracle Russell to Doucet play when Early pretty clearly dropped it. Not because of the call in and of itself, but the situation (Katrina) meant we couldn't even be mad because y'all needed that miracle W at the time. We got jobbed, which happens, but it would have felt really bad to bitch about it. There was never any "frick those refs" catharsis.

Oregon fans suck. One of the more annoying fanbases I've ever encountered. Fun watching them vacate Jerry World in 2011 when Honey Badger dicked all over them.

Georgia State would probably trash us.

All of our best players besides Elijhah Badger that were supposed to be the stars play for someone else right now. We've had two going on three terrible recruiting classes because of the NCAA cloud of doom hanging over our heads for something relatively trivial. Add on catastrophic injuries to the point where ASU has shut it down twice just to make sure we had enough healthy scholarship linemen to practice and we're a disaster.

We might still beat Ga State because ASU always has some talent, but the last two seasons are the worst in Arizona State history. Like ever. It's been a perfect storm of badness, with alumni refusing to get involved in NIL en masse until the AD was removed. He finally resigned a week or so ago and I believe the NIL group registered over 500 new donors the same day.

He was basically calling out the SEC because the Pac 12 was very strong at that point in time, generally considered the second best conference in the country (behind the SEC, who played 8 games). 2013, 2014 Pac 12 meant 50% of your conference games were against teams that finished ranked. They had at that point been playing a 9 game conference schedule for many years. It started in the mid 00's I think.

Basically, they were playing 10 or 11 P5 teams a year while other conferences weren't, and they wanted to crow about it.

What did Mawae do?

Mawae was on staff and the obvious candidate for the OL position that was coming open. But he wasn't really a fit for whatever reason and was going to be passed over. He and several other people had a group text that incriminated ASU recruiting during the COVID dead period, so Mawae and a former Todd Graham staffer that was on the outs snitched. Allegedly.

On JD's mom, Antonio Pierce and three 20something year old up and coming coaches, tanking their careers. Which I mean, yeah, we broke the rules but so did fricking everyone with a pulse.

Keyshawn Johnson (originally said Chad Johnson but wrong old WR) called him out on television, then got talked into reluctantly (but not really) walking it back a few days later. It's bad for business to point out that a former NFLPA president is a snitch. But he is.
