He was deployed for a year at the Syria/Iraq/Jordan border as a LAARNG member. I haven't probed much, but I do know that kids firing at him bothered him greatly and he had to fire back. He had an episode this morning where his wife heard him crying out to God and yelling get down they're firing at us.
Any if y'all have experience in how I van help? i've given him the Camp Hope hotline number. VA says he doesnt Have PTSD, soI'm pissed and confused.

Sorry to hear that Wing T.
I don't know much about treatment for PTSD but I do pray your son gets the help and peace he deserves.

That’s rough.
I don’t really have a solution, but feel your frustration. Seems like the VA is always playing defense.
I hope someone can steer you in the right direction.

He needs to talk to someone. There are a lot of vets groups that do this sort of thing.
He needs to see a therapist. Letting all that churn is not good.

I’ve struggled with PTSD for years. It’s really hard to talk about because you don’t WANT to talk about/ re-live it.
Sounds like your son is having night terrors and I wouldn’t wish them on my worst enemy.
During therapy I learned that the horrible nightmares I was having were actually called night terrors and, thankfully, there was a medication for it.
Prazosin was like a miracle drug for me and night terrors. Maybe this would help him?
There is a type of therapy for PTSD that’s called EMDR and it’s effective in my experience- the problem is finding a clinician that specializes in it.
I just said a prayer for your son. My heart goes out to him. It will never go away but it’s not as bad now as it was 23 years ago.
I hope you get other helpful responses here.

Go with him to the doctor.
Discuss his options with him and become his friend through this.

Most of all, let him know that as a father you are proud of him for serving our country. Let him know that you don't think he's a weak man. Tell him it takes strength to ask for help and to seek it and accept it. Tell him that you will be with him and do whatever it takes to help him and take care of his family while he goes through this. And tell him most of all that you are proud of him.

Ketamine therapy is an important and effective new treatment for PTSD .

I worked with vets with ptsd when I was a therapeutic horse riding instructor. The vets got a lot out of connecting with the horses, whether they rode or just spent time around the horses (or even volunteered to help handicapped kids ride). I could share resources if you think this is something that may interest your son.

Get with your local veterans service officer and find out who is the best organization in your area that can light a fire under the VA….don’t give up the fight
Not only should he get medical help from the VA, he should be getting disability.
You also have the option of going to your congressman or senator as,well…

I was in the CAOC and those areas are still hot. There's a lot that's happening everyday. Definitely made me glad I was further away. I feel sorry for your son. Hopefully he finds help soon so he can figure some type of coping mechanism. There are definitely resources for him to use that should be available.

Prayers my friend, take the advice in this thread and escalate getting him any help he needs.

There are practical steps he can take with a decent therapist. Unfortunately VA has minimal resources. Seeking reasonable private services, local/Telehealth, will be a good start.

VA says he doesnt Have PTSD,
Then, he absolutely and most certainly has PTSD. As if the goddamn shrink at the VA, of all places, has any relative experience whatsoever other than what some manual tells them into what a patient with an actual stress disorder from nearly dying or having to kill somebody to stay alive experienced or is struggling with.
The fact that we bend over backwards for transvestites, blacks, Jews, fat asses, lazy retarded idiots who live off our taxes, a cock suckin coke addict in fricking Ukraine (90% of the fricks in the US can’t find Ukraine on a map), and the endless list of losers we subsidize while the honorable boys and girls who sign a contract at 17 to defend the incredibly worthless populace in this country are made to feel like second class citizens after honorably serving in our military is the most egregious criminal act imaginable given what’s become of this nation.

In all seriousness, I would explore the professional mdma therapy or something similar. Seems like the most benevolent function of that drug and mushrooms is to give the soul and perspective a little jump start to see the beauty in the present world instead of the tragedy of the recent past.
Your family and your son are in my prayers.

Micro dosing psilocybin mushrooms can help tremendously with ptsd and depression

My FIL is in the Bogalusa American legion. They’ve got the VA down to a science. Their phone number is online and are glad to help through the process. They know every number to dial and exactly who to talk to. You can also call the VA office in Bogalusa and the ladies there will get him in contact with the right people.
All of this assumes he’s ready.

Look up a guy named Shawn Ryan. He’s is a former seal. Him lots of his fellow seals us Psychedelics treatments for PTSD. I have a high school friend who was in SF who just started his treatment.
FYI. The VA won’t do anything to help but give him more drugs and make it worse.
