You had posters trying to talk themselves into the idea that Matt McMahon built the Murray State program. Some of the idiots will still regurgitate that narrative from time to time.

It's hilarious how little people know. Murray St. has been a consistently good mid major program for decades. McMahon didn't build that program, he simply inherited it.

Don’t worry man, just give him another 4 recruiting cycles and we’ll be competing for championships

He was 31-3 his last season there. I wasn’t excited about this hire though.

Their previous 2 coaches before McMahon had 30+ win seasons too.

And LSU has had a lot.
We will chalk up another one this year.
Any school that misses the boat on the excitement of a great men’s basketball team is in on campus, just isn’t paying attention.

The people up here loved him and hate us for taking him and would take him back in a heartbeat tho

I don't understand why it's so hard for Woodward to fire McMahon, take a shite-ton of money, and find a decent coach.

Agreed. McMahon has zero dog in him and he has to go.

Kinda where I was. I think that makes us McMen by some standards.

That is true and not knowing that means you haven't paid attention to college basketball much and you are not good at simply googling to find out about stuff before you voice an opinion.

But Murray State's ability to continually put good coaches in place made me hopeful McMahon would do well at LSU. Unfortunately, my hopes appear to have been in vain, not an easy thing for me to admit because I tend to be a pumper by nature when it comes to LSU. If I had taken a deeper dive I would have seen that the last couple of Murray State coaches that got better gigs did not pan out so well elsewhere. McMahon's predecessor at Murray State, Steve Prohm, became his successor because he failed at Iowa State after a reasonably good start, Billy Kenedy was somewhat inconsistent at aTm and eventually fired by Scott Woodward.

I still hope McMahon proves us all wrong, unfortunately, I think it is more likely he gets fired after this season than that he is .500 in the SEC. Even more unfortunate, I am not sure either will happen.

But...but.. Will Wade, sanctions, complete rebuild.

You've got to give him at least 4 years...

Even the apologist are running out of excuses.

Cut them a little slack, a lot of those guys are younger versions of me. A little too pollyannaish when it comes to LSU sports. Age will teach them to try to tamp that down a bit to avoid looking idiotic down the road (I guess I still manage that at times ).

I feel pretty hopeless now, though.

I've gone from

I'm in your boat. I thought the MM hire was good enough considering the circumstances. I thought that he would at least keep us in the middle of the pack in the SEC. Nothing wrong with hoping for success and wanting a winning program, that's just called being a fan- and something I can respect.
