No one can make you pay it just like any other unsecured debt.

It will however end up on your credit report and they will add on a bunch of fees almost equaling the ticket.

Nope. I used to pay them then stopped many years ago. Multiple since then and nothing comes of it except a few invoices mailed to the house.

This is where being a stable and mature (age) adult begin to pay off. If you have all your finances in-line and have no fears for emergency financing then the credit ding is trivial. Just got to wait it out 3-7 years.

I would dispute the credit report under “no contract signed so no obligation to pay” strategy.

Throw it in the trash. You may get more fear mail, but there is nothing they can do.
