Has Brian Kelly?

I don't think he has, and firmly believe that M. House will be our D-coordinator next year. What say you?

I think you might be correct on this one. Not a popular opinion with this group, but the more BK talks about it the more it seems like he is leaning on keeping him.

It will be interesting to see if anyone on the defensive side of the ball is moved out, which we should definitely anticipate. To what end, no one knows for sure. What we do know, is we need some recruiting closers on that end as well as technical coaching experience at a high level. Curious to see what JL can do when healthy and gets a full year to coach/recruit the dline, if he is retained.

It will be an interesting offseason for sure.

If you get fired because your direct reports were all hired out of high school to learn the ropes from more experienced guys then all the more experienced guys get injured and go on disability, forcing all the new hires to fill in and they do a shitty job, would you feel like you were justly terminated?

I’m not advocating for House to stay bc I too want him gone BUT if I’m looking at the situation objectively, I see an argument to give him one more year.

If Kelly won’t take decisive action on this, then he’ll find himself on the hot seat. The defensive game plan for Bama says it all. Talent wise, we’ll probably be no better next year. Why would Kelly sign up for another year of this? Especially when the offense will put up a lot fewer points.

Kelly wants to keep him. But we are losing recruits and its going to get worse. House has done very little player development and guys have regressed. His scheme is bad and players put in position not to have success.

No chance he is retained. Kelly may give him a chance to find another job first but either way he's gone.

I think firing House is an easy sell because there is an implicit suggestion that our problems are directly related to him…and hiring a new DC solves that problem.

The truth is that Kelly knows that isn’t true. He doesn’t have the luxury that fans do.

I personally believe that our talent level on D is way below what people on here think. We are 2 years (assuming good recruiting) from the DC making a difference.

Only those who don’t understand what we have…..and don’t have. Jimmy Lindsey is the missing part. Seems like from reports that he will make it back, but no one knows if he will ever be full capacity again. Cudos to BK for not letting him go straight away, and not whining about it or using it as an excuse.

House is gone and should be. No excuse to be this bad on defense.

What if Kelly decides to keep House on as linebacker coach, which was House’s area of coaching at Kentucky?

Another thread of this crap.

House isn’t coming back. Kelly isn’t changing anything until after the season. Kelly is not on the hot seat so he doesn’t need to make an in season sacrifice to calm the idiot masses.

Just let it play out. House will be an assistant in the NFL next year and we will have a revamped defensive staff.

Lots of folks want to get rid of our offensive coordinator last season. Wonder what happened?

“ Offensive Coordinator Mike Denbrock is a nominee for the Broyles Award, which goes to the top assistant coach in the country.”

I personally think Kelly would like to keep House, but I guarantee you, not one single fan is more upset about the play of our defense than Brian frickin Kelly.

The defense has played better since the Ole Miss game, but you cant go around setting yards and points allowed records and expect to keep your job at LSU.

The Alabama game was the one where if House was going to save his and the rest of defensive staff's job, then we had to make some stops. The only stop the defense made was nullified by that horseshite horse-collar.

Instead our Defensive staff let Milroe go all Jayden Daniels on us, and that certainly could have been, if not prevented at least mitigated. Instead we made no adjustments whatsoever, and just let him run all over us.

When it comes right down to it, these coaches are hired and fired based on results. When your results are the worst ever somewhere, the reasons or excuses take a back seat to the fact that you've done something here at LSU that few have ever done before.

Compounding the issue is that if we were even middle of the road, or frick even bottom third, LSU is contending for a championship. This defense has wasted an incredibly special performance by JD5 and the entire offense. Wasted.

It's inexcusable. I'm sure Kelly will make sure House lands on his feet somewhere, but at this point I'd have a hard time retaining any of the defensive staff, Lindsay's health issues aside. It'd be one thing if House were being retained, but if House goes there may be a clean sweep on that entire side of the football.

It's not like they haven't earned it.
