I’m still irrationally angry about the targeting on Sam

The blatant hypocrisy of throwing out Sam, who took the brunt of the hit and didn’t even make the tackle, while bending over backwards to shrug your shoulders at what Dallas Turner did to Jayden Daniels, hitting a defenseless qb under the chin and knocking him out of the game.

It’s Monday morning and I’m still ready to meet the white hat at Sonic.

They really need to implement a targeting 1 (no ejection) and targeting 2 (ejection). I feel like that’s such an easy fix for a rule that has a lot of grey area.

If Turner’s hit wasn’t targeting then nothing is targeting. It is literally the definition of the rule.

Defenseless player - check
Launching yourself to the head and neck area - check
Using crown of helmet - check

hopefully it red-pilled some people... especially BK.

That crap wasn't a coincidence.

At end of the day they did flag the Turner hit as roughing the passer.
Maybe you flag Sam for personal foul but it was not targeting when the RB lowers his head and Sam was just making a tackle as he was taught. They have hits with RB's like that all game. The officials on the field didn't see it so I have no idea what made the booth review that while not stopping play and reviewing the Turner hit.
LSU will get the typical SEC response and not one damn thing will change.

Are you one of the fans that is still in denial that the SEC is corrupt and has been fixing games for decades?

If so, you are currently in the bargaining stage, going back to anger. Once you accept reality, you will expect it to happen and not be shocked when it does.

Personally, I still get very frustrated when they purposely allow players to get hurt so they can protect Bama. It is wrong on so many levels, but if you understand the average Bama fan, then it all makes sense. Bama fans have run the SEC and Officiating forever.

And it was phoned down from the booth

And the ref stood there at his little monitor and stopped gameplay for 2 minutes with a headset on

Yet we were told the Turner hit was “reviewed” we just didn’t see it? Really?

It’s all a joke at this point. If the intent of Targeting is to make the game safer you can’t make a mockery of it like the SEC has done the last two weeks.

I had a feeling coming into the game that the SEC officials were going to call targeting on LSU the first chance they could, just to send a message after last week. And of course, they called it on one of the most non-violent tackles in the entire game.

That was the most blatant "spit in your face" moment I've ever seen.

No one mentions that the runner lowered their head and shoulders and it's the only reason Sams helmet hit his shoulder. Sam was going for his legs. A regular tackle

Despite what fans here think, it happens elsewhere too.

quote:

Clemson star running back Will Shipley has now taken questionable hits back-to-back weeks against NC State and Georgia Tech, with head coach Dabo Swinney sharing Sunday that the Tigers submit all the officiating calls it disagrees with to the ACC league office for review.

The one against NC State was bad, and it looked like clear targeting.

Right's right and wrong's wrong. Jesus didn't deserve crucifixion, and we still recognize it today, so the passage of time doesn't correct an injustice.

Now, you can't go back in time or replay a game. But you can apologize and fix rules going forward.

It was blatant hypocrisy and shouldn't be forgotten.

Does the referee alone make the decision if it was targeting? I thought the review office in Birmingham made that decision or at least collaborated with the referee.

So according to LSU, Jayden had a concussion but played last Saturday and had an epic game. Clean hit.

I'm so glad you saw that too! The runner actually knocked him back. How could he be called for targeting a runner that puts his head down!!
