Remember when it was about states rights?

Its the narrative people have decided to re-rewrite about the civil war too - that it wasn't about slavery, it was about a states ability to self govern. People really believe that?
Horse sh't.
It very clear based on all these posts today that for the right, abortion was never about states rights. People wanting the federal government to override a states decision on this issue?
Wow the right keeps moving further and further away from whatever independent self rule party it looks in the mirror and thinks it is.
Horse sh't.

And the left embraces their quest for absolute slavery .....Where is your Granddad's pillow case?

It was about protecting the life of an unborn child and overturning an insanely biased decision that made abortion a right more sacred than those enumerated in the Constitution.
Ignore the cuck RINOs and their limp dick excuses.

Cannot disagree with this. If Ohio voters choose to allow abortion, that is their choice. I will still raise my children to have morality and a conscious.
I voted against #1 but it does appear to the libertarian in me is glad to see the state loosening its morality laws upon the people.
The state cannot make its people become more moral.
That is up to the people. Not the state.

I 100% agree with free speech as long as say things I 100% agree with.

Nobody ever claimed it was about state's rights. Well, nobody except the people who are still saying it today.
ROE V WADE was about states rights, not abortion in general.
Roe and abortion in general are two different issues. One issue is reversing possibly the most bullshite, made up, fabricated legal justification ever for removing state's rights, and the other is the question of whether killing a human being is actually constitutional.

The constitution does not have any rules on murder.
1. Treason
2. Piracy
3. Counterfeiting
Those are the only laws the federal government is supposed to enforce via the constitution of this country.
Murder is a states law.
Do we want big central government dictating laws or not?

Without the right to life, all other rights are meaningless.

If I’m recalling my civil rights law classes correctly Roe vs Wade was based on a birth control case by the name of Griswold vs Connecticut. The cutting issue in both cases for the bench was the issue of privacy which isn’t explicitly written anywhere in the constitution.
Fed vs state was never a consideration for the original ruling in either case as far as I can recall.

disagree, our Constitution says that Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness is for EVERY AMERICAN.
Posted on 11/8/23 at 4:57 pm to WaltWhite504
Sure! Thousands of white people went to war died because they felt bad for black slaves. That really makes sense to you?

That's the Declaration of Independence dumbass
Then they wrote a constitution which eliminated those rights to non-white men, women, non-landowners, and natives - so clearly not EVERY AMERICAN

Point me to the line where it says life begins at conception. The problem with the exact words interpretation of the constitution is that people flee that argument when it doesn’t fit their opinion.

Sorry but the whole "health privacy" argument flew out the window with Covid.
I was semi-open to this argument before that, but it's a no go for me now.
I'm not buying into this intellectual dishonesty.

For some but they veiled it as states rights
Now you have proposed federal bans on abortion
So like the op says, it was never about states rights bc those groups who claim it was all have their panties in a wad because the states are choosing to have it
So now all the govern me daddy people want federal abortion bans
Good luck with that. It’s not a viable strategy to win nationally

Wtf are you talking about? Republicans have been pro-life at all levels of government generally. Disappointment over the results in Ohio isn’t inconsistent with the general Republican platform of supporting the dignity of innocent babies.
Posted on 11/8/23 at 5:07 pm to WaltWhite504
100% spot on and it’s the exact reason why nobody should be applauding Johnson being elected as Speaker. He’s another big government goon.
Posted on 11/8/23 at 5:07 pm to WaltWhite504
You're right. This has shown that any bit of celebration about Dobbs was not about states' rights. If it were, people would shrug their shoulders about Ohio even if they disagreed.
Abortion is a losing issue except for a handful of states. If you hate Abortion so much, move there.
