Bumble founder (BMBL.O) Whitney Wolfe Herd will step down as CEO of the dating apps operator and hand over the role to seasoned executive Lidiane Jones, knocking its shares down 10% to a record on Monday.

This is the second big executive departure this year at Bumble following the exit of President Tariq Shaukat, who stepped down after three years in the role
quote:
"Bumble has failed to execute on its vision of becoming a broader women's platform for beyond dating use cases like friendship and professional networking. How the new CEO manages these non-core use cases is a key question," analysts at Jefferies said.

Bumble raised more than $2 billion in its initial public offering in February 2021, building on the momentum for internet-based dating services amid pandemic-led movement curbs.
The stock value has, however, slipped four-fifths since then as those tailwinds waned.

Unlike most dating apps, only female users can make the first contact with matched male users, while in same-sex matches either person can send a message first

The survey found that a majority of college students are not on dating apps. 79% of respondents told Axios and Generation Lab that they do not use dating apps or use them less than once a month. The most commonly used dating app for students is Tinder, with 12% of college students using it at least once a month. Bumble and Hinge were in second place, with 8% of students using one of the apps at least monthly.

No word yet on the OT's favorite dating app, Grindr, and their reported earnings.

Figured college kids would’ve used it far more than 8%. Getting strange at the bar isn’t hard though so makes sense

Was it that hard to write 80%?

Surprised the app isn’t more popular with guys.
Seems like having a woman pick you is better than all guys competing for unicorns.
If after a month you’re only catching low grade women, that’s useful information.

They wrote the article for women to understand.

This made me laugh.
Imagine not understanding your consumers and your product.

I pity the moron who invested in a bumble ipo.

I used it for the first time while traveling recently.
The only "high grade" women are obvious fakes. Why would they need an app anyway?
Bumble is 90% single moms who love carbohydrates.

When you sign up you get a few likes and maybe a couple matches and then you go ice cold for weeks or months and get frustrated and delete it. App sucks, it has so much potential but there is something off about it. Or maybe I’m just ugly… but I have had a lot more success on other apps.

Bumble raising $2 billion was a clear sign we were due for a recession.

Anyone who's tried bumble or tinder can clearly see. There's nothing but a bunch of fatties covered in tattoos or single moms. People that have expired.

You have to match, the high grade women aren’t even seeing your profile

I have friends with kids in late high school early college. It's the fricking wild West out there these days. Date swapping. Countless pics being shared. Just a general sense of depravity amongst that set right now.
Apparently their behavior would make any of us blush. Like, even compared to late 90's early 2000 college days.
