they arent building anything, they are grinding up 3-4" of the concrete and then repouring it. when we passed on friday there wasnt a single broken guardrail anywhere and little to no workers or work going on. honestly i couldnt even see any damage anywhere, but then you cant see I-55 road surface very well from hwy51 bridge
we went to middendorf's on friday and i asked some of the workers at foot of hwy 51 bridge, they said its gonna be at least another month because after repairs they have to ex-ray the roadbeds and do inspections and shite. if they say 1 month, then you can expect it to take at least 3 more months.
there are no issues at all with the old hwy51 bridge so its completely open.
as for I-55 - east (laplace) bound has 1 lane open, west (ponchatoula) bound is closed completely from laplace to ponchatoula exits. old hwy 51 is only way west from laplace other than I-10

No they have to evaluate and repair the concrete bridge deck from the accident fires.
I'm sure it will be several weeks until repairs are complete.

I drove south bound Sunday and north bound was shut down.
