Recruit.

Yeah he got Perkins two years ago but this year he lost two of the best players in tue state. Kirby Smart cleans up in GA. Kelly needs to recruit better.

I think he's done a helluva job recruiting after inheriting a mess from Ed. Just didn't hit on the portal guys like we did last year.

He is losing top in-state defensive talent and at DB in particular. Beyond NIL (which is big), you know other teams are using the incompetence of our defensive staff against us as well.
I’m confident Wilson, Davis and Hankton will be ok keeping in-state talent home on that side of the ball.

I think people are in denial about what the roster situation was at the end of the Orgeron era.

Its been especially bad on defense.

The fact lsu hired a coach and paid him 10 mill a year and he isn’t known to recruit is mind boggling. You have to recruit at an elite level to win in the sec

But the question is why we're regressing from that point.

2022 > 2023 and 2023 looks to be >>> 2024.

It's not a good sign that as Kelly gets more of his guys in the program, we seem to be slipping backwards.

We are also having issues recruiting this year at key positions (CB, ID, etc.).

These are the most ridiculous takes. Saban has his roster in year 2 without the portal. Save that shite. Kelley built a shite roster on defense thru poor evaluation and he also hired Matt house. So there’s that too

How long do you think the responsibility for all this is on Ed Orgeron? Seriously.

Like …. Next year or year after, will we finally all agree that the results this team achieves are entirely on CBK?

Not arguing — I want to know what you think.

I think 2nd year - it’s entirely CBK. Next year for SURE.

Oh ya, and other than the 12 players they have committed that Texas A&M also wanted, they won’t be able to out recruit them for players

Kelly never really had to recruit at Notre Dame, it sold itself. An exclusive network television contract didn't hurt either. Number 10 ranked recruiting classes, 8-4 seasons, and mediocre bowl bids at LSU aren't going to cut it as the league becomes increasingly more difficult to win.

In college, year 3 is the current coach’s baby.

NIL, Texas A&M destroying the recruiting trail in typical LSU recruiting hot beds, and now Texas dipping in to do the same.

Texas A&M and Texas competing for the same exact guys within 4 hrs of your campus is going to be tough.

A&M especially can go 6-6,7-5 and 8-4 yet still pull in top 5 recruiting classes days it all. It clearly displays the coaching/on-field product has no bearing on recruiting outcomes.

Pay the recruits and coach them up just enough and they don't care where they go (mostly).

How do you combat the recruiting situation when it seems to be all about the Benjamin's?

Maybe Kelly will find some more blue chip Syracuse transfers to add to his incoming 3 star roster

You're basically resigning us to 2nd/3rd tier in the SEC.

Why are we paying Kelly elite money to do that?

I agree but the defense should not be this bad even with the talent deficit.

Defensive coaching has absolutely made the problem worse.

Whatever camp Coach O is at, call him. Make him AHC and get him recruiting.
