Based on his net worth $375k a year should be about 1/30th of his passive income. His child should live well. He basically entered into a contract when he got her pregnant, he knew or should have known the potential ramifications. He chose his path and I think the number is something he should be happy with. It should be a lot less of a problem for him to pay than the average Joe. I don't have sympathy for people who choose their path when they knew or should have known the potential ramifications of their choice if you don't like the "terms of the contract" just don't sign it but don't whine when the piper comes calling. If the child support laws change significantly after you choose to have a kid then I have sympathy for your position, if they didn't then quit crying and pay up.
