This freaking owns.

quote:

In January 1993, Knight mentioned the recruiting of Ivan Renko, a fictitious Yugoslavian player he had created. Knight created Renko in an attempt to expose disreputable basketball recruiting experts.[77] Even though Renko was completely fictitious, several recruiting services started listing him as a prospect with in-depth descriptions of his potential and game style. Some of the more reputable recruiting gurus claimed to have never heard of Renko, whereas some other "experts" even claimed to possess or to see film of him actually playing basketball.[78]

RIP to The General. He did things his way and he couldn't give less than two fricks what others thought. They don't make them like him anymore.

Just realized if you're a hard core Texas Tech fan, you've lost Leach and Knight within the last 11 months.

Haha and like 10 years later he gave the fans shite for throwing things on the court for a bad call. "I don't care about the quality of the officiating. We don't throw things on the court." Um...

RIP

I liked him early with the championship team with Scott May and Kent Benson. The more I paid attention to him the more I realized how big of an arse he was. Worst was the game with LSU. He always said he did not worry about a Dale Brown coached team but Brown had out coached him that game. It was why he slammed the phone in frustration and totally intimidated the refs which changed the game. Well RIP and enjoy fishing where ever you are Bobby

I'll never forget the time some reporter asked him about his "game face". RIP Coach Knight. You were one of a kind.

"Hey, Knight, what's up?"

That little episode cracked me up. I had a high school basketball coach chew me out for referring to him by just his last name with no honorific, but I wasn’t even talking to him. He just happened to overhear me talking to other kids and mentioning his name. Get over yourself.

That audio of halftime speech against Purdue linked earlier is unbelievable.

Wow.
