This team (if it remains healthy) is net, net stronger than last year's team. It doesn't have the players at the top end maybe, but in toto it is stronger.
Our pitching may well be the biggest beast we have seen in a long, long time. We have guys back who were role players that will step up bigly.
Spot on.
This pitching staff can potentially be 5-6 deep with SEC weekend quality starting arms. There is no Skenes, but you don't just replace a Skenes.

I am expecting a return to Omaha
That's a tall task, no matter how good your team is. It's certainly a realistic possibility though.

Pearson OF
Travinski DH/C
White 3B
Kling OF
Jones 1B/DH/C
Milazzo C
Frey OF/1B/DH
Guys who have started in the field for LSU last year
Braswell started at South Carolina last year is our SS
Mac ALL PAC-12 OF from Arizona
These are just guys in the field the pitching staff will have way more depth than last year and potential 5 weekend guys no lie

Here's your legit answer.
Pitching - it's impossible to replace Skenes. That part is obvious. We had issues with starting pitching and pen depth last year. We should not have that this year.
Hurd is in line to be a weekend starter. We got Bamas Friday night starter from the portal, as well as another Bama pitcher. We got gage jump from UCLA, who is a big time proven arm. We have another arm from Xavier. We have Cam Johnson who we had no business getting from HS. I'm leaving off contributors from this list as well. Clear enough picture?
So yes. We don't have Skenes, but we have guys more than capable of winning on Friday against anybody. And we should trot out a guy on Saturday and Sunday with Friday night stuff.
C - Travinski, Milazzo, Neal. Same as last season.
1B - Travinski, Jones, Frey.
2B - is wide open. Quite a few players will battle it out for this position.
3B - white. No explanation needed.
SS - transfer from S. Carolina is looking the part so far.
OF - Transfer from Arizona is a senior .300 hitter. He's proven. Kling, despite what you think, played really well before his injury. Pearson, we already know. There is also a lot of depth out here as well.

im laughing at the comment cause we arent even close to last year on paper
Well you shouldn’t laugh at that. Top to bottom, we arguably very well may be.

I think talent-wise we'll be close to last season, but there will be some definite growing pains, especially when SEC play starts.
Someone said it best in here when they mentioned we could be deeper than last season but won't be as strong at the top-end talent-wise.

Neither did Skenes, Guidry, Shores, Ackenhausen, Herring, Hurd, Jones, or White before last season

If last year taught me anything, it's that Jay knows what he's doing. He knew we were losing a lot from that team, and has worked his arse off to find the right guys for this year. So I think we'll be OK.

No he wasn’t. He didn’t start any games his freshman year. He had one year of starting experience in the mountain west

Skenes was literally the best pitcher in college before he got to lsu. He was the number one pick

Agreed. Most of the big names from last year are gone, but the overall depth should hopefully be better.

I’m confused why you are asking questions you would know the answer to if you paid just a little bit of attention to the roster, and then call us out saying no way anyone can replace this person, but yet you have no idea what our roster is currently made up of?

Having players that go 1-2 in the MLB draft make being as strong as the top end pretty much impossible.
Is this team good enough to win the SEC? Host a super? Make it back to Omaha? Win it all again? Have the best pitching staff in the nation?
I think the answer to all of those is most certainly yes.
It will be a different looking team though for sure. We don't have an auto win on Friday, but I think that will balance itself out with having a huge pitching advantage on Saturday and Sunday most weekends. We certainly can hit as many HRs as last year, but that's no guarantee. Defensively we should be as good, or better. I think we certainly have more speed and will run a lot more.

Because he's a moron. He didn't make the thread to discuss anything.

There are 5 outfielders that can play.
Leading the way in the outfield is
Kling
Pearson
9- the transfer
The infields biggest question is who is playing second and there are 3 to 5 guys competing for that spot.
1st base might have 3 or 4 guys see time this year between the DH and catcher rotation.
The pitching is deep but we don’t know who the dogs are yet or if there are any friends n the new comers. That CC will work itself out.
There may be 6/7 left handed pitchers that will see time, a lot of time.
Not sure we can score as many runs as last year, and definitely not sure our pitching can finish as strong as last year. Maybe that’s because we were national champions and and everyone contributed!
The team will be very talented, hopefully they find the formula for success !
