Gaetz and company really stuck it to the Dems, who went along with ousting McCarthy thinking they could sit Hakeem the Bad Dream in the Speaker's chair.

Now, the whole of the Dem's House caucus looks foolish. They had an ally in McCarthy, but now have to deal with Johnson. Two different animals, they are.

Things have to be pretty testy behind closed doors right now with the Dems.

No, the dems are rejoicing. The republicans are at each other’s throats behind closed doors in their caucus.

I don't think they ever thought that could happen.

Sure but they also have a pretty divided group of House Republicans and can probably take advantage of some bad blood.

I don't think things have changed much for Democrats. They always find a way.

The GOP is united behind MJ. We finally have an opposition leader in DC to push back against this out of control federal government.

Will take a few days.. but eventually some man, whose name won't appear on a visitors log, will show up to Johnson's office, and after leaving, Johnson will turn into GOPe loser like all the others

They unanimously voted him into the Speakership. Now we're to believe it's a bloodbath behind the scenes.

BS, Trump torpedoed Emmer, the Dems Trojan horse.
I think the Republicans finally woke up.

So I guess this is as good a thread as any for me to come spike the proverbial ball! I’ve been busy all day but I’m so glad things improved with this change and Speaker situation from where it was with McCarthy! I hope the limp wrists got the message loud and clear in all this!

There are 221 Republicans in Congress—MJ got 220, with one Republican not present. I’d say that’s a forceful show of unity.

I was actually afraid a few dems would break away and vote for Emmer if he ever got a floor vote.

This was a huge win for Gaetz.

They should name elementary schools after Gaetz as well as give him a federal holiday.

The RINOs are. They don't have a grasp as of today.

I keep seeing in these threads how horribly outclassed and angry the RINOs are. I actually believe that's probably true. That doesn't seem like unity to me.

Plus it took almost a month to elect a Speaker. And Kevin McCarthy eventually got 219 votes I believe.

I think Mike Johnson just took the worst job in Washington.

This all about the 'get along' pubs vs the 'do something' pubs.
If you like the direction(victories as SFP would say) of the country back the 'get along' if you don't like the status quo and the direction back the 'do something'.
It was a surprising small victory today. Enjoyable to say the least but its just beginning and lots can change that no one can see.
