Womack has played in all but 1 game. For those who constantly ask where he is.

It’s a shame BK never plays freshmen… oh wait.

The bottom of that chart will pay off in a big way next year as much as everybody is dogging the secondary talent

Per Shea in the same tweet:
quote:
22 of LSU's 24 signees (92%) have played in at least one game.
- 4 freshmen have started.
So that talking point should be dead.

I'm not one of the guys who says he never plays freshmen, but surely y'all realize that the majority of these guys are playing on special teams and not getting significant snaps right?

This chart is misleading as it doesn't show how many snaps they've played. A few plays here or there isn't true development.

It never should have existed on the first place.
Year 1, he started:
2 true freshmen at OT
Freshman LB/edge
Freshman TE
Probably one or 2 that I’m not remembering

This doesnt give much context because it just means if they ever entered the game in any capacity (O/D/ST) or not.
Womack defensive snaps by game from PFF:
FSU - 0 snaps
Grambling - 8 snaps
MSU - 14 snaps
Arkansas - 5 snaps
Ole Miss - 0 snaps
Missouri - 14 snaps
Auburn - 0 snaps
Army - 6 snaps
So he's barely played in all but 2 games this season, missed 3 games entirely on defense. Womack played in every game but 1 on special teams where most of his playing time has come from which isnt really any sort of defensive development or playing time obviously.

Ah, let’s move the goalposts.
“Bk doesn’t play freshmen”
Oh, that’s proven to be false
“OK, Well, BK doesn’t play freshen enough to satisfy me. “

I mean I think it's obvious that people that complain about it want them on the field in some other form that kick coverage and kick return.

Its not goalpost moving it's looking into the actual detail of HOW much they've played or not and where which are pretty important. We have guys who have played in every game or most games this year but almost never on offense or defense. You have guys who play in every game on offense or defense but only maybe 5-10 snaps or so each game vs. others who play 50-60 snaps. Believe it or not there's differences there.
"Womack has played in every game but 1" doesnt mean much when people want to see him on defense more if in 3 games he got ZERO defensive snaps and only has 2 games all season over 8 snaps and those were 14 snaps.
There's this thing called context to simple statements like "oh he's played!"

Good. Keep the scrubs on the bench. When Womack can stand his ground at DE he’ll play.

Yes because those complaining are at practice and see they are so much bette than guys playing ahead of them.
Why do we even have coaches. Just let fans pick the starters.
If it was up to the idiots in this board 21 of 22 starters would be freshmen. The other would be the backup QB

I'm not saying the people complaining about freshmen playing time are right, I'm just saying using the chart to say that BK plays a ton of freshman is disingenuous to the argument that is being made.

I don't like this argument. OL isn't really a rotate position group. Nuss needs reps so
LSU has done well with getting young guys time on DL and secondary. Weeks deserves to start every game.
If you look at that list, I'd say more than not have played at their position than on ST on defense.

Are you that dense that you need someone to explain that the above statement is not literal that he NEVER lets a freshman touch the field of play in any game?
You can't say on one hand "the roster is so depleted, we need bodies"...then not play the kids you recruited. There are highly ranked players rotting away on the bench because of Kelly's "process". We'll see in time if that approach works overall, but it's certainly not working on defense.

Are you that dense that you think freshmen are on the bench for no reason.
BK has shown that if Freshmen are prepared, know their assignments and are physically ready to play, he will put them in and even start them over upper classmen at critical positions.
So, if freshmen are not getting playing time, especially in a place where we really need help, it should tell you something.

This, and I could’ve swore he was talking about redshirting Toviano. Now this chart says he played every game? Obviously it’s been special teams if at all, but I’m wondering if this is even accurate.

There's dumb statements sure all the time but coaches are also not infallible from any criticism in some cases where people can have legit questions/gripes.
For example a logical deduction here is we suck at rushing the passer this season. We have 14 sacks in 8 games. Womack we heard all offseason how he was a terror in the backfield rushing the passer, yet this season he's gotten a total of 27 attempts rushing the passer all year long through 8 games. So we suck at getting sacks, the true edge guys we have played a bunch in that spot (Swinson/Ovie) arent getting the job done there in terms of rushing the passer, but we refuse to really try something different at least in 2nd/long and 3rd/long obvious passing situations, which I think we can all agree we've been burned A LOT in those situation by QBs this season many times because we arent getting to the QB near quick enough.
Now Kelly has flat out came and said Womack isnt an all around player yet, which we dont really expect any freshman to be, but we could still use his by far best asset rushing a passer in obvious pass downs I think most would agree since nobody else is getting the job done in his spot. Nobody is saying Womack should be playing 40-50 snaps a game and start, but if maybe he got 10-ish snaps a game in obvious pass situations it certainly could help more than hurt considering the alternative of us not getting pressure on the QB in general, expecting a bad secondary to cover for 4-5-6 seconds and hoping for good results like we usually do.
Its almost like the staff forgot about Perkins and what he brought last year. He was nowhere close to a complete player and still isnt yet we lined up on the edge and said go after the QB and was in on 10 sacks in just 163 pass rush attempts. Getting an actual sack every 16 pass rush attempts is pretty damn good, and while Perkins could struggle in other situations, getting him on the field in obvious pass downs at edge clearly paid big dividends for us. Now that they've moved him away from edge for the most part this season and not rushing him as much we seem to have a void to fill and nobody has come remotely close to filling it.

The most important thing is to win the games, right?
I am sure BK wants everyone to get playing time but they have to earn it. Not every player is ready to contribute in the SEC.
