Looks like landfall was 5 miles West of Acapulco, which means the city took the full brunt of the Eastern EW. Can't get much worse case than that.

Really sad how many in this thread can joke about a Cat 5 storm. This is horrible, especially with how quickly it developed with little time for people to relocate.

Isn’t it pretty mountainous to the west of town? From the pictures it almost looks like something you’d see on the Mediterranean with the city built on hills and cliffs.
My hope is that the elevation alleviates the storm surge concerns we have on the gulf coast in the US.
My concern is that the wind and rain smashing into those mountains cause flash floods and landslides.
