I think BK and staff have addressed ou CB needs.

- Ju'Juan Johnson (four-star cornerback)

- Cai Bates (four-star cornerback)

- Bernard Causey (three-star cornerback)

- PJ Woodland (three-star cornerback)

- Wallace Foster (three-star cornerback)

They have two safetys committed too.

Now get two above coverage corners from portal and we will be fine.

Obviously, something has to happen to the staff. Cooks has to be gone.

I can see Bates stepping in day one and contributing.

Sometimes you can't make lemonade out of lemons. Cooks aint the problem.

For a coach that does not have much of a track record I would agree. Cooks on the other hand has a track record of awful secondaries. I do think he is part of the problem and needs to go, sure the talent is not the best but alot of the time we do not see basic things such as turning your head. Don't think he needs to stay.

Looking at his history, I don't think we need to keep him. I have not seen any corners worth anything when they were drafted, nor do I see any safeties that were drafted that were worth anything prior to LSU. He's the secondary recruiter on Rogers and Sloan is seen as the only recruiter on McBryde.

Cooks was a defensive assistant the last couple years at ND before he came here and was their corners (5 years)/Co-DC(3 years) coach for 5 years at ND. Crazy thing is that their pass defense increased 3 years straight while he was there (from 53 to 38 to 25 to 15th) the last year he was there, they went backwards though. He went to Oklahoma has a DB coach after. Personally I just think he was a convenience hire.

Steeples is the young up and comer that needs to be molded. I heard that Kelly is now personally involved with the DB coaching.

But everyone told me they were doing a great job? Why has the realization just set in that you need to fire Steeples/Cooks to actually develop these kids

If you can’t recruit and can’t coach, you’re done

is he truly being recruited as a CB? all i have read is that he is electric with the ball. having said that, typically, guys that play QB in HS, but move to CB take a year or two to adjust....then they take off. EX: Mo Claiborne.

I think PJ moves to a 4 star by end of season. Causey injury is probably why he's a 3 star but he may end a low 4 star as well.

These 5. Zy can come back and so can JK Johnson . That’s 7. Denver Harris and Duce Chestnut are questionable. Plus Welch, Stamps, Hughes, Robinson, and various safeties who may be able to play both. That’s a lot of guys. Time to develop them to LSU standards.

Still waiting on Welch to develop. Seems like it's taking forever...

Expect both to get their 4th star before National Signing day. Both have seen their stock rise. Even if one of them doesn't get that 4th star both are talented players and can make a difference in the DB room regardless of what some might think based upon their "ranking."

Ju'Juan has played very little CB. He has primarily played QB in HS. He is a phenomenal athlete but there will be a learning curve for him.
