Careful, any show of respect and you'll be labeled a soyboy by the knuckledragging window lickers

I vote no. I’ve got over 20 years so far in the military (still just get one vote on this…but adding for context so I’m not viewed as “anti military”) and I’m all for not booing them and maybe for clapping when they come out onto the field the first time, but let’s not get corny. Give them the respect you’d give any other opponent and cheer like crazy for LSU so they get the full Death Valley experience.

They want it to feel like what they’ve heard about, not some glorified Spring Game where we cheer for both teams.

The case could be made that by being so overly cordial, you are denying army players the real experience of playing in tiger stadium.

Act normal, without the a-hole

No. Air Force. But I’ve deployed while TACON to an Army brigade, served on joint staffs with them, have been to multiple Army schools, and have good friends in the Army. The services aren’t the cultural islands they once were.

We’re just as much USA as them so let them chant that to us.

It truly confuses me why this wouldn’t be an automatic thought.

We can’t boo a service academy in a football game?

That’s the kind of mindset that gets you upset playing a service academy. I promise they aren’t that soft.

In that case, I'm going to hurl my Depends at their sideline when it starts leaking down my leg.

This is the correct answer. There is no better respect that you can give the Cadets than to treat them the same way you would treat any other opponent. Those young men are football players on Saturday night. They have heard about Tiger Stadium and have a certain level of expectations about what they are walking into. We should give them that.

This does not mean we cuss them & throw balloons filled with liquid at them, but we shouldn’t do those things to anybody. But we should yell Tiger Bait at the top of our lungs. If these young men can handle that, then we are all in a world of trouble.
